The latest trend is the theaters that serve you food during your movie.

is that not super disruptive?

You’d think so, but no it’s not. Those type of places usually have an 18+ Or 21+ rule and serve alcohol, and have very strict rules about talking or using your phone during the movie. The servers try their best to stay low and be quick. You also order on little sheets of paper that they come collect, so you aren’t talking to them during the movie. And mentally you understand that they are doing their job, whereas the asshole talking next to you is just being an asshole, and is infinitely more annoying.

RIP director Stuart Gordon.

Oh wow. I just started watching Stuart Gordon's movies (namely Re-Animator and From Beyond), because he's just about the favorite director of Jay Bauman of RedLetterMedia. I know he's going to be heartbroken over this.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/ryan-reynolds-talks-tackle-live-action-film-80s-game-dragons-lair-1279270

A live action version could be done nicely with current CGI.

Bluth did a Kickstarter a few years back to do a full length animated film of Dragons Lair, then cancelled it to move to Indigogo, since over there he got to keep the money even though the project never happened.  I backed the Kickstarter but saw what was happening and didn't back it on Indigogo, and now I get spammed all the time from Bluth wanting people to join the "animation university" he started with the money from the project.

An article about an upcoming documentary about George Miller’s unmade Justice League Mortal:
https://trouble.city/articles/2020/3/24/q788rpokz251jcq7c0d0la4zqynpqt

It sounds like it will be an interesting documentary. But I do think just looking at pre-production pictures and scripts can't really indicate the quality of the finished product. I am sure that if you just looked at production art of Batman v Superman it would look great!

It would be interesting to make a mockumentary like this. About a notoriously bad movie, like Battlefield Earth or Batman & Robin, and act like the movie never got made but look at the pre-production art and scripts in a positive light.

https://trouble.city/articles/2020/3/28/pandemic-be-damned-space-jam-2-will-come-out-july-2021

Haven't we suffered enough?!

The Space Jam fanbase baffles me. I watched it when it came out. It sucked then and it sucks now. I love the Looney Tunes, and while I'm not a basketball fan Michael Jordan seemed like a cool guy. I really wanted to like it. But it was soooo bad. And most people agreed. The critics (rightfully) savaged it. So not only having people look back fondly on it is odd, but enough people to justify a sequel?! This isn't just rose colored glasses, this isn't just nostalgia goggles, this is wearing welding goggles in a deep dark cave.

I dunno, man.  Nostalgia is a powerful force.  Like, I like the Goonies but I wouldn't call it a GREAT movie.  That said, I feel it isn't my subjectivity talking to say that Goonies is far better.
