What a difference a month makes, Phillies were lifeless, now full of life.

They are now .500 since Sandberg left, best record in the league since the all star break.

Pete Mackanin has to be given consideration for permanent manager if this keeps up.

Welp, this year, baseball has made for some strange bedfellows.

As a fan of Detroit, and seeing the relative records, we now can share the pain with Boston.  We know how you feel.  We understand. ;)

We appreciate it. Can we offer you a Hanley Ramirez for a bag of double bubble?

 Phillies dump Rubin Amaro.

Yay!

I do feel bad for the guy, started as a bat boy, played for the Phillies, spent his whole career in the organization, and seems to be a nice guy, probably too nice to be a GM, he just wasn't good at that job.

I'm sure this will get a thread somewhere on the board at some point, but I didn't want the year to go by without noting the recent passing of Yogi.

Wish I could've seen him play in his prime, but beyond that, he left a legacy of (attributed) quotes that I still love saying at any given time...

"Hey Yogi, you want this pizza cut into four or eight slices?"  "Better make it four.  I don't think I could eat eight."

Condolences to his family and to the loss of a great player and, from the sound of it, a great man as well.

He came to a fork in the road, so he took it.

RIP Yogi.

So Papelbon starts a fight with Harper in the Nationals dugout because Harper didn't run out a fly ball, and then goes out and blows the save, gets a loss.

Payback is so nice, after Papelbon dissed the Phillies players saying no one ever came ready to play, Blanco gets a 2 run homer off him.

Coincidence that the Nationals started their slide into the crapper at the same time they got Pap?

They're under .500 by I think 3 games since they got Pap.

We avoided 100 losses this season, only 99, so, um, yay?

Few bright spots with the rookies, I think we had 9 or 10 rookie pitchers get their first win, and a couple of them look good for the future.  Our rule 5 pickup also looks great for the future.

Next year will be a somewhat new coach (interim coach after Sandburg is now permanent coach), new GM, and new president.

Ah, dang.  I should've gone back in time, bet some money against the Cubbies.

Well, it seems yet another Back to the Future 2 item has failed to come true, but hey, at least they got into the pennant race.  Now I can root exclusively for the Royals to finish the job...if they can just keep Toronto away for one more game.

The cubs are a young and inexperienced team. They will win in the next couple years....and then we can just change the calendar to make it 2015 again. :)

I'm going to miss Don Orsillo in the booth. At least Dave O'Brien is a solid replacement. Hopefully he and Remy will have some fun back and forth.

Here I am waiting for Opening Day here in Detroit, and I didn't even realize the season's started.  This is what happens when I don't have cable...but we're off to a good start.  But then, we were off to a good start last season, too.  We'll see how the new lineup works out this year, especially considering our bullpen still sounds like it's troubling...
