Has anyone found a better source?
« on: October 22, 2011, 05:56:51 PM »
This is such a great riff; it's frustrating that the audio and video are so poor.

Has anyone found a better source? The two versions available at archive.org look a little better, but they achieve widescreen by cutting off the top and bottom of the video. Plus, they are only 10% of the file size, so they may not look good blown up to TV size.

Well, I had to do it. I downloaded the best of two versions at archive.org and made edits to the riff audio track to match it. It's definitely much better than the Rifftrax version, especially the audio. The only downside is that the top and bottom of the video are chopped off to make it widescreen.

Here are the edits that you need to make to the riff file match:

Something to note about the version you found. Upon close inspection it is in fact PAL format. So it would need to be converted to ntsc before its usable. From what I can tell based on searching, no Widescreen version exists in NTSC.

Really? I converted it to DVD format with Super and had no issues. My riff DVD looks great.

Well, except for the fact that it cuts out a few seconds of the "blood dripping" scene so the riff makes no sense.

Sounds like super did the trick for you then. The Mkv to download on archive.org shows its encoded 25fps. I just wish it had a higher bitrate with the download. Can't have everything I suppose.

The archive.org video is no longer available, so I uploaded my converted version to youtube (see post above).
