Suddenly...

    I only wish I'd been drinking something so could've done a spit take.
Yeah, it's creepy. But it's hilarious if you think of it like a Terry Gilliam cartoon. Girl's head slowly rising it from the corner, eyes going back and forth via cut and paste, complete with silly sound effects.

Her head floats up to reveal she has no jaw or lower face.

Ok, so I am still soooooooooooooooooo disorganized (sorry guys, I didn't think my life would be this much of a mess right now) so I can post two entries from work and then I will figure out how many posts per day with the last one being Oct 31st. If you want the last one earlier, I can update as needed. Please let me know

Most Broadway Inspired Death Bill
Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider) - All That Jazz (1979) - 25 points

(1 of 14 lists. Highest ranking - #1 Monty)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/bNcl0L7eJUY" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/bNcl0L7eJUY</a>

Director: Bob Fosse (basically writing and staging his own death)
Starring: Roy Scheider, Jessica Lange, Ann Reinking, Ben Vereen
Gore Factor: Minimal
Sad Factor: Slight.  This guy pretty much had it coming to him.  Although the bit where he hugs his daughter tugs at the heartstrings a little.
Wow/Kickass Factor: Huge wow factor if you like '70s variety shows and Everly Brothers songs.

Synopsis:

Anais asked me to write up the synopsis for this death.  Probably because she hadn't seen the film before and when she looked at the Youtube clip I suggested go with this entry, she was all like WTF was that?  To me, this scene is the ultimate "life flashing before your eyes" moment.  And it is hard to take the scene out of the context of the rest of the movie.

Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider) is a famous Broadway director working himself to an early grave.  The film shows his last frantic days trying to mount a new production while his health woes start taking a toll on him.  All the while having a running dialogue with his "Angel of Death".   Most descriptions of this film will tell you that the scenes throughout the movie that show Gideon talking to the "Angel of Death" (Jessica Lange) are just in his imagination.  But my interpretation is that the entire movie is him relating his story to her as he already lies on his death bed.  Leading up to the ending showstopper musical number where Gideon seemingly goes out with a bang.

I first saw this movie back in 1980 and have probably seen it 20 times since.  I just watched it a few weeks back after making this list.  To me it has always been the most compelling cinematic version of what happens to you when you die.  And hey, who wouldn't want a hot "Angel of Death" there to escort you into that long goodnight.

This is Anais speaking. I would like to say that having watched the scene in question, I really want to watch this film. Also Roy Schneider was hot

34 Henchman 24 – The Venture Brothers  (2003 - Present) – 40 points
(2 of 14 lists. Highest ranking - #? (Will check when back at the Hotel) Anais or PakMan)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/_4LlA_yunVY?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/_4LlA_yunVY?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

Director: Jackson Publick
Starring: Dr Venture and Family, Brock Samson, The Monarch, and Henchman 21 (aka Gary)
Gore Factor: Minimal
Sad Factor: FUCKING HIGH! How DARE you kill 24! Don’t you understand he is the yin to Gary’s yang! You INHUMAN MONSTER
Wow/Kickass Factor: High – Def a surprising death that caused some awesome character development for 21 in season 4

Synopsis:

There have never been a greater pair of nerds in love since Kirk and Spock. 21 and 24. Its not that they get nerd references….it’s the nerd references they do get that makes them so lovable and enduring. 24’s death at the hands of (who? 21. Who killed your beloved? Was it Brock? Dr. Venture? Dr. Mrs the Monarch? No, 21. YOU are the true killer), anyway, after 24’s death, 21 becomes a hardcore henchman (including getting a Hench for Life tattoo on his now tawt abs) but nothing can replace the hole in his heart that is the loss of 24. A beautiful love story if ever there was on, this death is almost as bad as the death that did not actually occur in the film Serenity.

I think if you post the #1 at midnight on Halloween, that would probably work.

Oh and I love All That Jazz, I only ever seem to see it when I have a hacking cough though, which makes it oddly appropriate.

Tripe, I am at work. Can you make sure the film clips match up to the actual post? Just IM the correct film clip embed link if they do not

33 Judge Doom – Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) – 42 points
(X of 14 Lists. Will have to check when I get back to the Hotel)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/MSTL3AidX4o?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/MSTL3AidX4o?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

Director: Robert Zemeckis
Starring: Bob Hoskins, Christoher Lloyd, slutty cartoons
Gore Factor: High…..for toons
Sad Factor: Triumphant! Take that killer of toons!
Wow/Kickass Factor: High. In fact, the entire climax of this film is utterly amazing from start to finish

Synopsis:

Ya know why Who Framed Roger Rabbit? kicked ass? Well, everything, but the film noir twists were certainly a big help. And no twist was as awesome as the fact that the evil, toon hating Judge Doom...is a toon himself! This man terrorized the cute toons of Toontown by asking for the utter demise (almost Hitler-esque) only to be revealed to be himself a Toon (like a self-hating Jew….the WW2 references are just stacking up). But Judge Doom is not just any toon! Let’s just say we really hate him by this point in the movie….and then he dies in his own gas chamber…err dip. In his own dip

I was checking on my phone and it looks like the youtube vid for Number 24 was off. Can you modify it. Search youtube for "Ode to 21 and 24" :)

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an awesome movie, but when your a kid, that climax is super-intense and terrifying.

I forgot to add Judge Doom! I was going to do it when I got back the partial list to be completed, but it completely slipped my mind.

While it makes me sad that no one else picked this particular death, I am still stoked to see it mentioned on the final list.   :highfive:

And I am kicking myself for not including 24 on my list.  I probably would have had him in my top 5 if I had remembered it.
