The Book Was Better Podcast
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:55:23 PM »
I started a thread about this in the Over the Top section, because the first episode was about the novelization of Over the Top, but rather than start a new thread for each episode, each of which has been about a Rifftraxed movie so far, I thought I'd just start a general one.

The Book Was Better is a really funny podcast where the hosts (my wife, Jessica McLeod and my good friend, Luke Milton) dissect novelizations. I know I am biased knowing both of the people involved and all, but it's an excellent show, and if you enjoy Rifftrax, I am certain this is right up your alley.

The first episode was Over the Top, the second the The Dark Knight Junior Novelization, and the third was The Day After Tomorrow.

They recorded the fourth last night. New episodes come out fortnightly.

Episodes can be downloaded from their site, or, better yet, subscribe in iTunes.

(Moved to the much more logical 'books 'n readin'' section of the forum)

The premise intrigues me. Subscribing, although i don't know when I'll get around to actually listening. I'm a little behind on my podcasts right now. :P

I downloaded the first three episodes yesterday and listed to them today while I was working.

GREAT JOB!

 :D

I had a hard time getting any work done,I can't believe the stuff they left in The Dark Knight book.  Oh and that last passage of The Day after tomorrow has got to be the most insane thing I have ever heard.

Keep them coming,I look forward to downloading the next episode.

I think someone has finally been found who is more crazy then Tommy Wiseau.

Now I am off to get a damned glass of water.

I'm listening to the Over The Top episode right now.  Really enjoying it.  This is a great idea for a podcast, hope they keep it up. I think the two funniest/most embarrassing items on my book shelf are novelizations of Porky's and Scarface  :D  I've never gotten around to reading them but this podcast might inspire me to crack them open.

That's awesome! I'm so happy to know there's a Porky's novelization. We must track it down!

They are recording a Halloween episode tomorrow night...

Apparently, the author also did the Porky's 2 novelization, as well as a few Airwolf and A-Team books..

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that they chose the poster with "Lean, Green, And On The Screen" on it for the novelization?

Also, a neat bit of info: First Blood, the first Rambo movie, was actually based on a book. They changed the ending to leave it open for sequels and the author of the original book actually went on to do novelizations of the first two sequels. The fourth installment never received any sort of novelization, however.
Please don't ever use the words "Charlie Sheen" and "pumps" in the same sentence again.
