You know, I used to think pretty much all pit bulls were death machines. And then I read this article.

I think the thing that got me was that a hundred years ago, these dogs were the epitome of Americana, and how they were the standby dog for anything you might need. I don't think I would ever get a pit bull because they have way more energy with which I'd be comfortable, but they are sweet dogs.

Having just spent a couple weeks with this kooky guy, I can attest to the fact that they have the capacity to be just as sweet as any other dog.

I can also attest to the fact that they can be highly rambunctious.  :)

Pitbulls can be adorable, but they're very protective.

My friend in high school had a pitbull.  You had to be introduced by a member of the family or she could be vicious.  I remember how she watched me until they took me over to her, scary.  After that she was a complete sweetie pie.

Dobermans!   They rock and are sweetie pies.   Of course, mess with one of their humans and I feel sorry for you.

No offense to you and your dog, I have never really liked Dobermans. Also, I love the look of terriers, but high energy really isn't my thing.

Here's a candid shot of them partying with their friend Scott Howard:

You know what keeps amusing me about this thread?

That I started it in the middle of my last day at work.  Popular thread started at the end of the previous chapter of my life.  It just seems cool.

So you are going to close this thread the first day when you get another job?

Maybe.  But then again, I'm in school until the end of 2014, so it'll be a while.

My godson's future helper dog joined their household today. He'll still need to be trained but eventually Merlin will help Ian in, you know I'm not actually sure what that will be, except for picking up on cues in case Ian needs help, if anyone rembers the episode of House featuring a guy with SMA, he also had a dog to help him out (Ian's mother couldn't watch the episode with breaking down but that was on very soon after he was diagnosed). But here's Merlin, he's a Lab/Beagle mix:
