Not that modern and if it's not that it's something very close, he could be really into retro and have one from as far back at the late 19th century that looks like that.

The shades seem to have some side pieces which are more common in the first half of the 20th century. Thing is, people often have an idea about the past that is very rigid, so when we think of the 40s we think everyone walks around in suits but they really didn't. Or look at this gorgeous yet renegade time traveller:



He must have grown tired of posing for Abercrombie & Fitch ads and decided to use his time machine to go take down the Lincoln Administration.

No, it's most likely a camera it's just that cameras that size aren't all that modern, have a look at my post, there's nothing modern in the picture.

Well I'm thinking coming back two hours later with a specialy created image rather underlines how upset you brother is. He just seems to get really upset over trivialities, often due to his not reading things carefully. It's no skin of my nose if he's satsfied with being like that, it just seems like it would be wearisome.
