Glastonbury 2011
« on: June 21, 2011, 03:50:20 PM »
Don't know if anyone here is interested in it, but Glastonbury 2011 starts on Friday. I'm very excited for this year since U2 is playing the Pyramid stage on Friday night.

So here's the Glastonbury thread!

I would love to travel to the UK one summer to go to one of the big music festivals.

I am seriously considering going next summer to the '80s Rewind Festival.

Too late this year to make it, but I really want to go next year.

I think I would be overwhelmed by a big festival like Glastonbury.  The '80s one seems more my speed.

It's not too far away from me, but Glastonbury is a scary place.  A friend from work was there when it first started to get big in the mid-90s (he even clmbed the fence) and his descriptions of it make it seem like another world.  A very trippy other world.

Is it Woodstock '99-esque?

Perhaps, just with more tea.

Anyone ever go to the Rory-fests?    Are they any fun?

More crusty less rapey.

Glastonbury's weired pretty much all the time, the leys be thick round those parts.

Well, the festival has started!! And the act that I'm most excited for, U2, is taking the stage in probably an hour! Expect to hear a lot of ZooTV era songs.

U2 rocked the Pyramid stage last night! It was amazing! Coldplay is about to take the stage.

Well I'm not there, if that's what you guessed. (How I wish I was) I guess the crowd seems to be into it for the most part. I'm not watching Coldplay's set (you can find it online) but VH1 is showing it tonight at 10 here in the States.

I hear that Radiohead's set yesterday (I forget what stage it was on) featured a lot of new songs, which bored a lot of people. Quite a few walked away.

U2's set got a fantastic responce. There were protesters there protesting the band's leaving Dublin to avoid taxes, but they pretty much didn't do anything. They had a big balloon that was taken down by security at the beginning of the show.

I hear Coldplay's set is getting a good responce, but not as good as U2's did.

Beyonce is headlining the Pyramid stage tomorrow.  :speechless:

Oh, and BBC reporters are annoying. We want to watch the gig, not hear you talking!
