How should I take my mind off of eating?
« on: June 29, 2011, 05:48:26 PM »
I have just started a new diet and the hunger is killing me.  What do you think is the best way to take my mind off it?

Get some exercise, try going for some walks and build up to running. Diets alone rarely work and the more active you are the better you'll feel.

If it were anyone else, I'd advise them to spank it.  A lot.

But as its Doc.  Portion control is apparently a good method of dieting.  Eat the same foods, but take your time and never eat past the point you're satisfied.  Don't feel the need to "clean the plate".

This is pretty good advice. Just going for a walk will get your mind off food pretty quickly.

Probably exercise, since it combines the one-two punch of distracting you and burning calories.  Also rather than eating you wanna make substitutions such as fruits and vegetables in lieu of more fattening foods.

Start out slow by taking handfuls of amphetamines and smoking lots and lots of cigarettes. Then gradually work your way up to where you're shooting meth between your toes. Baby steps.

Oh, and whatever you do, do not kill Myslef. I hear he has deep ties with the Russian mob.

Whatever you do, don't think about a hot, glistening turkey dinner with some steaming hot mashed potatoes and gravy with corn on the cob and green beans and nice home-cooked rolls.

yeah seriously I've had periods of being less than svelte and not once have I got away from that through diet really (oh sure cutting some things back or out does work but it wasn't the main factor).

I love being active. :)

Unfortunately, I'm pretty good about staying active and getting exercise, but I just can't handle dieting.

So while I don't eat because I'm bored or between meals at all, really, I just can't cut down on portions. And I couldn't cut out soda to save my life.

So I've gotten to the point where I have plenty of good strong muscle, but I have no definition and baby pudge that just won't go away. So yes, diet and exercise are both required if you want to look and feel your best.
