[Edward J Grug III]

I like Seth MacFarlane. He's a talented voice actor, has an impeccable sense of showmanship, and is a great creator of comedy, but it irks me slightly that he writes himself a big starring role in everything he creates. It just seems tacky. Like he's writing big ol' checks for himself.

If I see that there are a sufficient amount of American Dad! writers, I might watch it.  Maybe.  Probably not.  Heck, I'm not even watching American Dad! anymore, and that's a show that's honest to goodness good (largely because despite being created by Seth MacFarlane, the only thing he does on the show now is act).

As for Jordan Peele, I'm just glad he's not doing Akira.  Everyone, stop trying to do Akira.  Not because it is super sacred, but it is so about Japanese culture, no American studio can possibly do it right.  Guess what, the destruction of Neo-Tokyo isn't about 9/11, it's about fucking Hiroshima.  OK, that last part was an assumption on my part but considering what big sci-fi blockbusters look like today, it isn't a bad guess at what they would do, is it?

If Hollywood wants to remake an anime well, I think start with something they'd be well suited for. Classic Gundam or Macross would be great, I think Gundam in particular would be a walk in the park. Very influenced by Star Wars, and it's a romantic war epic with cool bad guys (Char), it's retro, it has heart, and guns, I could see it being a hit if done well.

Trigun would also be pretty easy to adapt into some good movies I think.

Sounds like they definitely want to do Judge Death at some point.

I think it'd be funny if Judge Death was either all CG or heavy makeup, and they got Stallone to voice him. So we never see his face.
