Music for running/jogging/exercising
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:40:58 PM »
After a knee injury/surgery im finally healed up enough to return to running, problem though my music feels all stale and over used.  I need something new.  so what music gets you pumped and helps you workout?  Preferably what has a good beat and helps you run that extra mile?

As for me just recently discovered nightwish, so Planet hell and siren have been awesome especially for getting started.

Funny enough my sister just posed this question the other day. Prior to losing my mp3 player I used to have a folder with superhero music (Superfriends, Greatest American Hero, Superman theme etc) that I would listen to when I jogged.  Hey, it motivated me.

Heh the rocky theme (and nearly any music associated with) has always been good for me

The last year's DEVO CD (Something for Everyone) would definitely count:

Slap this sucker on your ipod or whatever device you store music on and pretend that this song is chasing you like  the deranged killer in a slasher flick you'll be very motivated to jog as fast as you can:

Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I have a playlist for running a couple of songs from it

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/GNIMuvbiZcc?version=3" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/GNIMuvbiZcc?version=3</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/UqvV7L0RNmw?version=3" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/UqvV7L0RNmw?version=3</a>
That one's good for interval running.

Though I do always expect Timothy Dalton to run alongside me and confess to being a slasher while listening to it. ;)

It's cool everyone...I got this.

If you dig Nightwish - check out Epica.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/rKc6Fq67cVo?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/rKc6Fq67cVo?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

As for my own running, I like something heavy and up tempo, but complex enough to distract me completely from the task at hand and enough of a groove that I can set my stride to it.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/hZe03-VHqX0?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/hZe03-VHqX0?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

With this last one, on my first listen through the album, I CRUSHED my mile time by almost a full minute and a half:

Haha, yes...I would be lying if Simone (the STUNNING redhead) wasn't a major draw to the band. :P
