    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

The topic comes to mind because I'm thinking it's time I finally delve into Final Fantasy XIII.

I bought it about a week after it came out, intending to play it over my break between the winter and spring semesters. I got approximately one battle in when I realized it was all but on unplayable on my non-high def TV. Text was too damn small-- something that was happening more and more often with my new games. So I angrily shelved it.

When the monitor for my computer went all wonky and needed replacing, it gave me an excuse to get myself a high-def screen much earlier than I expected. I hooked up my PS3 up to it as well and I could now play my games in their intended HD glory. Problem is, Red Dead Redemption had come out a couple days earlier and I became thoroughly addicted to IT, and I've only broken free of it in the last couple weeks. In the coming days I'll probably get FFXIII going.

Then there was Megaman 10, where I went about a month without playing because I just plain forgot I bought it. My short-term memory was impaired when I downloaded it. I liked the game, though.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I know how you feel about Final Fantasy XIII.  I keep renting the damn thing from where I work, and every time I end up returning it again after playing it for...what, two, three minutes?  Don't know why, it's not a dislike of the game (though seeing that first Chocobo had me facepalming in shame that that scene existed), but I just can't bring myself to sit down and play it.

Most of the ones I have, though, are ones I bought used and just never got around to them.  I keep telling myself I will, but when, exactly, I don't know:

Black and White 2: I think I played this exactly twice, once before I realized my graphics card sucked, and a second time before I realized, hey, I should really finish Black and White 1 first, which I never do because my creature takes too long to get trained the way I want him to be.  Be evil, dammit!   ;D

The Fallout Collection (1, 2, Tactics): Fell in love with Fallout 3, and just find the old Diablo-style game hard to get into (though I can't say I dislike the game, there's just some games that take longer to warm up to me).  Similar situation to Arena and Daggerfall, though I got those as a free download, so I don't count them.

Lemmings 3D: Never even stuck it in my machine.  Guessing it only works on DOSBox, but heck, I'm an Amigan at heart and can't get enough of the Lemmings.  It was 3 bucks, I think, and I'm not passing that up.

Starcraft: Given for FREE, installed, never touched.  Don't even know what it looks like other than the screenshots on the back of the box.  I suck at RTS games, anyway.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: PS2 game I got for Christmas.  Came out just before I cared about war-based games, and I've been meaning to drop it in on my PS3 one of these days.

Heh.

I have games from the 90s that I haven't opened yet. I wouldn't be surprised if I found a sealed game or two from the 80s in my storage area.

Just within arm's reach:

*My Collector's Edition of Half Life 2 - Still sealed. I got annoyed about the online activation and never opened it. I've got two copies of the Orange Box now (360 and PC) so I'm not likely to open it.

*Total Annihilation (PC)

*Star Fleet Command: Orion Pirates

*Just Cause (360)

*Shattered Suns (PC)

*Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GameCube)

*No One Lives Forever 2 (PC)

*Devil Summoner 2 (PS2)

*About a dozen games on Steam that I'll install at some point.

And a bunch of PS2, 360, DS, X-box GameBoy and PSP games that I've bought and "Will get around to really soon." I could probably find 50 sealed games on my bookshelf if I looked.

Oh, and I rented FF XIII, played it, and returned it before finishing it . I bought it again a few weeks ago as it was below $20, but still haven't played my new copy.

Chock up another point for FF13 and Saint's Row 2 here. Played both for about 6-8 hours each, never touched either again.

People buy games and don't play them?  wow.  I have only ever played for games I really wanted to play.  I think the closest I come is my copy of Battle for Middle earth 2 and that was only because I was never able to get that game to install right.

There are those of us that can buy a bunch of games on sale (or a buy 2 get 1 free) and just dont play one of those for a while.

I have about 5 games or so that I really need to start and about 10 more I need to finish. But mostly I have quite a few games that I played about a level or so while bored and just need to plug away (like Brutal Legend)

I bought Legend of Legaia 2 back in 2004, but I was in the process of trying to finish something else at the time, either Dragonball Z Boudakai or The Simpsons Hit and Run.  When I finished those, though, that's when I got into Final Fantasy 11, which was the only game I played for the next 2 years.

I've tried several times to get going on it, but I just couldn't.  The whole Guide Dang It factor is too discouraging.

Also bought Chrono Cross because Chrono Trigger was so awesome, but the terrible graphics and the convoluted battle system turned me off real quickly.

Also, I don't know if this counts since I didn't buy it, rather won it in a contest, but I got the King's Quest Collection, like 10 years ago and barely touched it.

Also, I've been meaning to play Duke Nukem Forever for, like, 13 years, but scheduling problems, budget problems, and personal conflicts keep getting in the way,

Or get them via trade on Goozex.com (If you want to sign up please use my referral link: http://www.goozex.com/referral.asp?idr=4845426379 )
I also have been trading to get Blu-Ray copies of DVDs I own, then trading away the regular DVD copy.

Let's see... here's my list of ones I need to start playing still:
Beatles Rock Band
Guitar Hero 5
Guitar Hero Smash Hits
Beyond Good & Evil
Shadow Of The Colossus
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Mario Kart DS
Worms: A Space Oddity
Valkyrie Chronicles

There's a few others I started but didn't get far in like DeBlob, Raymans Raving Rabbids TV Party, and others on the Wii that my dad borrowed.  And since my Wii crapped out I won't be getting back to those any time soon.

It took a few tries to for me really get into Chrono Cross. That's my way of saying I got it for Christmas the year it came out and I beat it, oh, two years ago.

But once I did, I really loved it.

It's actually the plot more than the gameplay that scared people away, though. I spent about three months 2008 in the hospital, my mom got someone to lend me a laptop so I wasn't completely isolated. I spent hours and hours at the Chrono Compendium reading plot analysis and things like that. I don't think I ever would've fully gotten the story of Chrono Cross without doing that!

When looting the corpse of a now-dead movie rental, I managed to pick up Dynasty Warriors 5 and 6. I've never really sat down and played a Dynasty Warriors game. For a while, I think I was angry at them for effectively bumping historical strategy games off Koei's roster, but I feel like I should give them a fair swing. I'll get around to that some day...
