Who won E3?

They all put on good shows for the press conferences, but taking into consideration the games announced and the presentation, who do you think won E3?

On balance, I think Nintendo.  I didn't see all of Sony's press conference, but they had some good stuff too, but I mostly didn't care about the franchises they were bringing back.  Microsoft focused a lot on Kinect, which I don't care about either.  Nintendo might just be rehashing franchises over and over again (seriously guys, when are you going to come up with a new IP?) but they seem to be doing it in a way that seems somewhat fresh and new.

Nintendo releases new IPs pretty often, it's just that not many of them end up catching on like the Marios and Zeldas.

For example, this E3 they announced a submarine game for 3DS called Steel Diver, and a new Wii game called Fling Smash that's supposed to be some kind of combination of tennis and pinball.

I suppose Nintendo did.

But THIS YEAR it was sort of like being named the smartest man in Alabama. I just wasn't that impressed with this year's E3.

Also, I don't have a Wii and I don't have any particular interest in handhelds, not now that I'm older.

When I was a kid, I LOVED my Game Boy, I could play that all I wanted and not have my parents or my brother and sister yap on about wanting to watch TV or some shit. But I'm a grown-up now with my own place, I have full dominion over my livingroom.

Which isn't to say to handhelds are just for kids. But I'm a single guy, I don't really have to do a lot of travelling. So, a console is the best fit for me.

If I had a job that took me all sorts of places or something like that, yeah, a 3DS would be a nice thing to have. I had a GBA, and I really liked that too. But I tended to just use an emulator most of the time because I had the luxury of being able to use a big screen and I did.

Just noticed Spoony said he liked the look of Deus Ex 3, which I vaguely had heard Ubisoft was making awhile back.  And I saw the trailer online for the new Silent Hill game that they posted up at Gametrailers or something (looked like the GT site, but I didn't check the link to make sure).

Based on those two alone, I conclude that, really, WE'RE the winners of E3.

Microsoft's was the weakest for sure. Sony's was solid, mostly because of Portal 2. I thought Nintendo would suck again, but damn did they ever deliver! Ocarina on the DS? Yes please!
