Mayor "Mumbles" Menino is at it again...

Who could forget these classic Boston sports memories?

*facepalm*
Let's get some replays up on the Jumbletrom!

Man, I will NEVER forget where I was when Varietek split the uprights!

I said classic moments, but rewatching Mumbles I need to correct myself and say they were "ionic moments".   :D

Wow, that is a LAME promotional night.

At least the Brockton Rox (the team that plays practically in my back yard) have things like Curt Schilling "Bobble Ankle", El Guapo "Bobble Belly", and Grady Little "Bobble Arm" nights.  (Bill Murray is part owner of the team.)

So headline on USA Today: A-Rod hits Historic Grand Slam

What was so historic about it?  ???

It's his 19th grand slam, and he's only in 7th place on the HR list.

I was unaware that USA Today was on the list of "people with perpetual boners for Yankees" with ESPN.  Guess I learned something today!  :D

Well despite losing 4-0 to the Angels Braden pitched another complete game and tied the Oakland record for consecutive batters retired at 29.  This was only his second career complete game.

They A's have lost 3 in a row and 4 out of their last 5 but they are still at .500 and have Crisp, Suzuki and Duchscherer all coming off the DL this week and I heard from a guy who knew a guy that they're finally going to call up Jack Cust so we can finally get some power going,  Anderson, Devine, Buck, and Ellis, also on the DL, are probably coming back the following week.  That accounts for everybody but Josh Outman who probably won't be back til the end of the year.  (Yes the A's have already had that many players on the DL this year)

So all this combined with the fact that every single year the A's are a second half time, I'd say now's the time to be an A's fan.

Gardenhire said (with a smirk) that 'tonights loss wasnt the end of the world... thats what would happen if we lose tommorow'. Thought it was pretty funny considering how much the local sports radio has been hyping this series as 'must win!'... at the end of the day its not as important as everyone is making it out to be. The Twins are bound to beat the Yankees eventually, and if its them vs us in the playoffs I think we'll be due for little bit of revenge on the Brox roiders.

"Pitching & Defense... They said our strength was Pitching & Defense..."

Gotta love losing on a walk off walk in extra innings.   :gouge:

They have serious problem playing against the Yankees - and they didn't just lose the last two games they got destroyed.  What has it been now 11 - 12 straight loses in New York - it's like their afraid of them and they'll never win more than division titles if their scared of other teams.
