Forced Subtitles
« on: January 21, 2010, 04:02:54 PM »
Anyone know where one would find the subtitles for this?  I'm trying to include the subs for the Jabba lines in a dvd reauthor, something I have yet to do successfully.
All these Star Wars dvd's are retarded:  You put in the dvd and the subs are automatically off!  Then you have to go through them all to find out which one tells you only what Jabba is saying, and then you have to choose between the one that shows subs on the screen, or the one that has them in the black letterbox bar at the bottom.

Help?

EDIT: Forget about the subs I posted.  I'm viewing it now and the timing is a little off.

Thanks from me too!  Do you just copy to a notepad, save as a .txt, and load in IFOedit?  I'll try that..  Thanks again Wiseblood!

The subs I posted last time the timings were a bit off.  These should work better:

Code: [Select]
1
00:10:00,650 --> 00:10:04,482
There will be no bargain.

2
00:10:06,948 --> 00:10:13,911
I will not give up my favorite decoration.

3
00:10:15,415 --> 00:10:18,831
I like Captain Solo where he is.

4
00:12:46,149 --> 00:12:49,518
Ah! Do that again!

5
00:14:42,890 --> 00:14:47,102
I have come for the bounty
on this Wookiee.

6
00:14:53,151 --> 00:14:57,777
At last we have the mighty Chewbacca.

7
00:15:23,806 --> 00:15:25,846
I want 50,000. No less.

8
00:16:09,936 --> 00:16:14,432
This bounty hunter is my kind of scum...

9
00:16:15,400 --> 00:16:18,187
fearless and inventive.

10
00:20:29,153 --> 00:20:32,854
It's too late for that, Solo.

11
00:20:32,991 --> 00:20:37,699
You may have been a good smuggler...

12
00:20:37,829 --> 00:20:41,280
but now you're Bantha fodder.

13
00:20:48,214 --> 00:20:50,254
Take him away.

14
00:20:57,682 --> 00:20:59,840
Bring her to me.

15
00:21:10,194 --> 00:21:12,068
I'm sure.

16
00:23:45,141 --> 00:23:49,388
I told you not to admit him.

17
00:23:51,439 --> 00:23:54,191
He must be allowed to speak.

18
00:23:55,026 --> 00:23:57,980
You weak-minded fool!

19
00:24:00,031 --> 00:24:04,360
He's using an old Jedi mind trick.

20
00:24:13,920 --> 00:24:19,080
Your mind powers
will not work on me, boy.

21
00:24:35,984 --> 00:24:40,562
There will be no bargain, young Jedi.

22
00:24:41,781 --> 00:24:45,316
I shall enjoy watching you die.

23
00:28:06,319 --> 00:28:09,984
Bring me Solo and the Wookiee.

24
00:28:10,114 --> 00:28:14,326
They will all suffer for this outrage.

25
00:30:43,726 --> 00:30:50,061
Soon you will learn to appreciate me.

26
00:32:11,022 --> 00:32:13,809
Move him into position.

27
00:32:38,007 --> 00:32:40,249
Put him in.

If you're authoring using IFOEdit, there's a program called subtitle creator that will take text subtitles and make a SUP file that IFOEdit can use.

I don't know about the subs being turned off, but I haven't been able to "find" them for the AVI files I make, on any of the SW DVDs. I think somehow, it must selectively show you only parts of the regular English subtitles, i.e. Jabba, and then turn it off during any other subs. Which I really don't understand. So many other DVDs have them as part of the image, like in Iron Man. Really makes it hard to watch the riff when I don't know what they're riffing. And it is costing me so much money to take Huttese lessons.

Thanks again Wiseblood.  I did what you said, and the second subs worked perfectly.

Thanks for pointing out that program, it also works if you are using rejig, was able to save the subtitles and the color pallet and use them in rejig.

Color pallet and font are not showing up as I expected but it's readable and I'm sick of messing with them...

I then used ifoedit on the file rejig created, and changed the jabba subtitles to forced on.

It's taken me about 5 tries but I finally have the subtitles for jabba working....

Thanks Wiseblood.  I've uploaded a copy of the SRT file to my personal web space.

If anyone else uses DVD Lab like I do, here's the SP1 file.

If you're going to do this, you might as well write your own captions.

Thanks very much!  :)

I have the same problem, all my subs are ugly green or black, I can never get them to look like anything professional.

If anyone has a .sup file or .ifo or whatever I need to have readable subs I'd thank you very much.

I've never had any luck using SubtitleCreator and readable subs.

Fixing the subtitle color is a simple fix.   Once you've reauthored using either Ifoedit or Rejig, open Ifoedit.  Near the bottom click on the 'open" button, and choose the .IFO of the ripped DVD.  This will get us the correct color.  You should see a bunch of information pop up.  Click on VTS_PGCITI.  Click on the first VTS...(VTS_PGC_1).  Once you have that one selected, Click on the "Subtitle Color" tab, and click on "Copy Color from this PGC".  Then, click on the open tab again, however this time, choose the IFO of the reauthored DVD.  Repeat the process, but this time once you've selected the VTS_PGC_1 of the reauthored DVD, Click "Paste Color into this PGC".  Then click "Get VTS Sectors", then Click "Save".  This should take care of green or black subtitles, and you should have the color that the retail DVD had.
