3D TVs in 2010
« on: January 07, 2010, 09:18:17 AM »
Apparently several companies are supposed to have 3D TVs out to market in 2010. I thought that my HD Plasma was already 3D ready because it has high frame rate (600hz)/ I had heard that there would be 3D Blue Ray players needed for this. Am I wrong?

I don't know if that's true, but if it is, wow....way to divide your market even further Blu-Ray.

Honestly, I can't find anything less appealing that 3d tv.

HD is not 3d but i don't think 3d tvs will take other any time soon.  For one thing i heard that a 26 inch 3D Tv will cost around $12,000.  For another people are only just getting upgraded to HD,there is no way they are going to throw out their brand new HDTVs for this gimick that from what i have heard only works on screens 32 inches and smaller.

I saw that FOX is going to show the MLB 2010 All Star Game in 3D and ESPN is going to launch a 3D sports network by 2011.

But really, if all we are going to get is crap like American Idol in 3D, who cares?

Every time there's been 3-D movies in the theater, someone has started talking about 3-D TVs.  And so far, it hasn't happened.  But who knows...

Ive somewhat been keeping up on the 3D TV tech; most of it is still very much up in the air because the standards and pricing are still being hammered out (lol yes ANOTHER format war) but basically which ever tech Best Buy backs this year will get the nod (in my opinion).

The channels are coming (ESPN 3D is only a per game channel by the way... with lots of 'dead air'), the HDMI cables will need to be the latest version (I forget the number but it doesn't really matter cause its not released yet). And the glasses vary depending on the type of TV you own (proprietary by brand name).

All that said its coming this year. You will definitely be able to walk into your local electronics store and check out the new tech in a few months.
