I remember loving The Gate as a kid, and when I watched it again recently I found it still fun though definitely riffable. Never did see the sequel though. How did they compare?
Haven't seen the sequel in ages. I remember thinking it was okay at best. It didn't have the main kid in it (Stephen Dorff), but starred the nerdy best friend who was into deathmetal.

I have convinced Hor-Riff-ic Productions to riff The Gate, but there is no set timetable when they'll get to it. I have written a full riff script for it that I submitted a while ago. It is going to be SUUUCH a good riff when they finally do it!

Makes me glad to have that DVD ready and waiting.

Sanctum
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter
Battleship (c'mon, guys)
Dragonheart
Dredd (or “Helmet,” as the Japanese release was titled)
Apollo 13
Cinderella Man
Pretty much anything else by Ron Howard
Prometheus (c'mon, guys...)
Apollo 18 (how many were there, again?)
Conan the Barbarian (the Governator version)
Enemy Mine

And who says that riffs are only appropriate for movies that are crap? If you can do Casablanca, you can do:

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Creation
The Right Stuff
The Lion in Winter (the Patrick Stewart version deserves the treatment more, but I'd love to see your take on the original)
The Raven (1963; and yes, it's a great movie, despite being directed by Roger Corman)
The Mouse that Roared
Pretty much anything else by Peter Sellers that doesn't involve him playing an inept French detective (e.g. Hoffman, Dr. Strangelove)
Dragonslayer (sentimental favorite)
Innerspace (ditto)
Peter Pan (2003; ditto)

Battleship (c'mon, guys)

Let me get this straight: was this a movie based on the frigging BOARD GAME? As much as I hate Transformers movies I can see where that particular toy could have some incredibly bad stories (acted out by incredibly bad actors, directed by an incredible wanker) around it, but how can this be a movie?

And does anyone actually scream "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!" in it?

Apollo 18 (how many were there, again?)

How could you miss it? It had a soundtrack and everything.

Yes, it was "loosly based" on the board game.

No, no one screams "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!", though they did work in a somewhat similar line.

Ironically, I actually think the complete lack of a storyline allows for complete freedom. That can be good or bad, in this case bad. But I certainly wouldn't be pessimistic about board game adaptations from the get go.
For example, the whole Sugar Rush plot with Venellope in Wreck-it-Ralph, I could see them doing something similar in a board game adaptation.

I'm gonna be starting a wishlist soon on the Suggest-a-Trax Subforum.

Here's some of the titles that I would like to see riffs of:

Howl's Moving Castle
Ponyo
The Secret World of Arriety
Pokemon: The First Movie
Pokemon: Mewtwo Returns
Pokemon Heroes
Pokemon 4ever
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie
Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie
Twice Upon a Time

I usually go for animated films. :)

The Christmas That Almost Wasn't.  The DVD has been out since 2003.  I'm surprised they haven't done it already.

To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar
Powder
Interview With A Vampire
Village of The Damned (1995)
House of Wax (1953)
Evil Dead
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer(1992)
Stephen King's Rose Red
Kill Bill 1&2
Stargate

Most of these movies I actually like quite a bit, I just think that the riffs for them would be fantastic :)

Battleship, definetly.

Old 80's or 90's fantasy movies of any sort would work too, to put it broadly. Mostly because I sorta like them :p

Hah! A riff of The Gate would be hilarious - any of those super tame horror movies aimed at kids (Was that a... "thing" at one time in history?? lol there's a few of them). They're all horrible.

Unsane (1982)
That...that is either the most brilliant idea for a title, or the most stupid.
