Been playing single player. Damn is it fun. Been in 2 duels. Shot the gun out of the guys hand in both duels. So freakin awesome to do that.

Got an avatar award for shooting a guy's hat off.

Love the random helping people bit. There are super quick and fun. Saved a guy's wife from being hanged, saved a few people from coyotes, saved a few people who were ambushed. Brought in several bounties.

Donned a bandanna and hogtied a woman (who did the stage coach ambush) and dropped her on the tracks in front of a train. Fun to watch her splat.. :D

Some weird random things too. Saw a guy race up his horse past me only to stop at a trock and hop off. I think he needs help.. Nope.. he starts pissing on the rock right in front of me. LOL

I've played it for a few hours now.  I'm really enjoying it.  I've mainly been doing the story missions and just grit my teeth through lassoing horses.  That was a pain in the ass.

I've been thinking about getting this since I've seen the ads around so I can watch APGIL play it. Is it basically Grand Theft Auto in the old west? Plays the same, I mean, just a different setting?

It shares a lot of the same mechanics, but I think there's enough different about it that it's not just "GTA with horses."

My ultimate goal is to get one of those brown dusters that you can see in the outfits menu.  I wanna look like I'm from Leone's Once upon a Time in the West.

Heh.  There are some weird bugs with the game - I got the duster coat, but the tail of it clips through practically everything.  When I escorted Dickens into Armadillo, after the mission was done, his cart flipped into the air and his horse stood on top of it for a second.

I guess that's something you'll always see with open-world games.  At least it hasn't broken any quests for me yet.

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

Hookers and crack?
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I just had to chase down a horse thief for someone. The horse ran off, so I wasn't able to collect my reward. BUT, it means the game left me standing there with a hog-tied horse thief and my own imagination.

I dumped him without untying him north of Armadillo in cougar territory. I didn't stick around and wait for one to show up, though. Cougars are dangerous as hell in that game. They're just as liable to kill me or my horse. So, I took off and let my imagination play out the fun part.

Although I know realize I had some bait. I should've left some of that next to him.

Oh well, I'm sure another opportunity will present itself.

Went into the multiplayer, something I rarely do in a game.  I enjoyed it.  The free roaming mode can be a little hectic (here's tip for first starting out - leave everyone alone and go find some weapons, they'll help enormously).  If anyone's on XBox live, send me a friend request so we can go a-hunting.
