Worst news ever:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/28/canceled-lucasarts-games-included-day-of-the-tentacle-hd

When Disney axed Lucasarts, they axed Day of the Tentacle HD!

That and the cancelled X-Wing Tie Fighter like game are just plain heartbreaking.  I played the hell out of Day of the Tentacle back in the day, along with Sam and Max Hit the Road and Fate of Atlantis.  In a year when they put out the excellent Ducktails Remastered, why couldn't they see the value here?

Disney will burn for this!

Ack... why do I have a level on steam now?  And why is it working?  I feel the need to gain levels... play more games... trade stupid cards... Damn you, you effective loyalty program!  I don't even get one free small coffee at the end, I just get one free bigger number.  And yet it's so effective.

I apologize to those I annoyed on steam with posts and trade requests in an effort to get more XP.

Steam's loyalty program is built in to the ToS, which basically say, if you stop giving us money, we'll have to shut down and all the games you purchased won't be accessible anymore. While it's kinda dickish for them to engineer their terms to FORCE you to buy things from them, it really was only the early days of Steam that I could see it being an issue. These days, You can't throw a rock without hitting a computer with Steam on it, because it's so damned convenient. I was notorious for losing discs for games.

I tend to avoid Steam if possible (not as much as Origin). Now allot of games won't work without Steam and that seems like a monopoly to me.

I actually really like Steam, but healthy competition is good for us consumers.

By the way Quantum, your avatar is the greatest

As someone who was there when the lights went on in Paragon City and was there when the servers shut off for the last time, yeah. I've already backed this.

(And this month is murdering me on the Kickstarting front. 7 different projects I'm backing have either started or ended this month, including another set of Bones miniatures.)

Danke. I wouldn't be against healthy competition if Origin or any of the other services would try to be something other than Steam. They don't seem to remember how damn rough Steam was in it's early years and are trying to match the(more or less) finished product, and they just can't compete. I saw a video talking about all the things they could do to compete. For one, STOP SELLING YOUR GAMES FOR 60 BUCKS! It makes sense for selling from a retailer standpoint, but EA IS the retailer on Origin. They don't have to cover manufacturing and shipping costs. It's almost complete profit. There were other ideas, too, like if someone has Mass Effect installed/purchased from Steam, or whatever, give them a a free transfer copy on Origin, since a lot of people like to have their series all in one place. If they did that, and stopped trying to duplicate what everyone already has, they'd get a lot more users.

Yea I agree. The most important part, like you said, is price. I'm a big fan of GOG and Desura but they are both pretty niche.

I just backed Cosmic Star Heroine, by the guys who did Breath of Death and Cthulu Saves the World.  I don't mind those games, but their pitch for the new one sold me, citing Phantasy Star IV and Chrono Trigger as inspiration.  It's not out till next year, but it already looks real nice:

Spoilered for size:

Their page is here:

And $10 guarantees you the game.
