Srean just announced the first batch of Greenlight games to be Greenlit!

Quote
September 11, 2012 -- Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first set of titles submitted through Steam Greenlight have earned critical mass and been picked up for worldwide distribution.

The first set of titles to launch via Greenlight will be released independently in the months ahead (as they are varying stages of completion).

“The Steam community rallied around these titles and made them the clear choice for the first set of titles to launch out of Greenlight,” said Anna Sweet of Valve. “Since launch, hundreds of titles have been submitted, with more coming in every day. We expect to be announcing more titles coming to Steam via Greenlight soon.”

The first 10 titles coming to Steam from Greenlight are:
Black Mesa
Cry of Fear
Dream
Heroes & Generals
Kenshi
McPixel
No More Room in Hell
Project Zomboid
Routine
Towns

Steam Greenlight is a new platform feature that enlists the community’s help in selecting some of the next games to be released on Steam. Launched on August 30, Greenlight allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince Community members that their game should be released on Steam.

For more information, please visit steamcommunity.com/greenlight/

THRILLED that Towns made it. I got it in an Indie Bundle a while back and have been playing it since it was an itty bitty beta. Kind of a Minecraft/City Builder/RTS mash-up. I can't get enough of it.

WiiU Pricing time

Basic Unit $299
Deluxe unit w/ Marioland and 32 GB of Memory  $349

November 18th release date (Nov 30 in EU and Dec 4 in Japan. Huh. We get it before the Japanese? That's unusual.)
And TVii, which is Tivo-ish was also mentioned.

No price for Europe? That means we'll probably get screwed again.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was £300.

From IGN:

Nintendo never announces prices for Europe due to previous issues with the EU, so it'll be up to retailers to decide. Early listings ranged from £210 to £320. Tesco currently has it at £249 for Basic and £299 for Premium.

Yeesh. Pass, for now. I'll wait for a new Zelda game or a price drop.

More Kickstarter news-

Obsidian, makers of Fallout New Vegas, South Park: Stick of Truth (and a lot of stuff when they were at Black Isle) are doing a Kickstarter of their own for Project Eternity, a RPG inspired by their prior creations. You know. Baldur's Gate. Icewind Dale. Stuff like that. You can find it here. They launched today and are halfway to their goal already.

Edit: And 24 hours later, it's funded. It's amazing what can happen after 30,000 people toss some money at a project.

Saw that on the escapist and donated. Sounds like a pretty sure deal.

Now I just need to work on forgetting about the kickstarters I've donated to so I don't spend the next two years in eager anticipation.

Remember that isometric PC dungeon crawler called Project Eternity that Obsidian Entertainment sought funding for on Kickstarter? The one we told you about, oh, yesterday? Well, not only has the $1.1 million funding goal been reached, but Obsidian revealed the project's initial set of stretch goals for the next month of fundraising.

Should the team raise just over $100K more, the game will receive a new playable race, class and companion each in addition to the three races, five classes and five companions included in the game. At the $1.6 million goal, Obsidian will make a Mac version of the game and add a "new major storyline" with added quests and locations. Hitting the $1.8 million mark nets the same result as the first goal, with another new race, class and companion created for the game.

Players will receive their own houses in the game if the project reaches $2 million in funding, and will see Linux support and a new region, faction and companion if it hits $2.2 million. At the rate Obsidian is moving in its Kickstarter campaign, it is already working on $2.4 million and above stretch goals. If money keeps moving its way, we'd give it another day or so.

I backed it.  Partly through the guilt of never actually beating any of the Black Isle games in the 90s.

Hmm. On the one hand, the minimum pledge to get the game is higher than average, but on the other, the minimum pledge to get a boxed copy is way lower than average..

Just a reminder: Borderline 2 is released on Tuesday. I'm not sure why they made a Madonna-themed video game in the first place, let alone how it got a sequel, but if you're a fan of the Material Girl, here you go.

...huh.

Bayonetta 2 is now a Wii U exclusive. For some reason, Nintendo, not Sega, is now the publisher.

So, good news on a Bayonetta sequel. Bad news that it's on a console I have no interest in.

So, the latest expansion to DC Universe Online is titled Hand of Fate.

Yeah, I'll just leave it at that.
