Who would want to clutter their hard drive with a game they didnt like?

Third of installed Steam games remain unplayed, study finds.

Quote
A comprehensive breakdown of Steam sales and game consumption habits, researched by and published on Ars Technica, shows that more than 780 million games have been installed since Valve's digital games platform launched in 2004.

Of this mass of games, about 37 per cent have not been opened, while 17 per cent have been played for less than an hour.

However, Ars Technica notes that many Steam games are packaged as part of bundle deals, while others are given away as part of competitions, and some of the most popular games are free to download.

The publication also notes that its game consumption data is only representative from March 2009, meaning the first five years of Steam player analytics are missing.

Nevertheless, measured samples (of roughly 85,000 valid Steam user accounts for each test) reveal that more than half of Steam's titles have not been meaningfully engaged with. The study's author, Kyle Orland, also details the experiment's methodology and demonstrates tests for accuracy.

Pretty common and the report doesn't cover games bought but not even downloaded.

Buying Destiny? Well, Activision is offering the following deal:

If you buy a digital copy of Destiny for the old gen consoles (PS3/360) by Jan 15, you can then get a free copy of Destiny for the current gen systems (PS4/XB1).  It's limited to the same console family (i.e. Sony upgrades to Sony, Microsoft to Microsoft) but all your extras (levels, DLC, etc.) will transfer over to the new system when you go.

Full details are here: http://www.destinythegame.com/digital-upgrade

Hey, 3DS owners!

Wanna try the demo for the new Smash Bros. game a week early?

Club Nintendo sent me a code and 3 extras for my friends. I only have one friend who needs it, so I'm posting the extra 2 here. First come, first served!

I own 115 games on Steam. I went through the list to see how many I actually finished. And by finished I mean totally finished. The result:

Seven.

And that's just Steam. I never finished any Final Fantasy after IX, never finished Dragon Force, and most embarrassingly, I have an original copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. Yes, that game that goes for $300+ at auction. Got about halfway through and got tired of it.

It's funny. It seems like the more games you have, the less inclined you are to stick to any one of them. I have at least played all of them, even if only for a few minutes.

Anyone who had a Club Nintendo account, reached platinum last year, and registered some DS games got a set.

Is it just 3dS? Or will it work for Wii U as well?

Just the 3DS version. The Wii U demo won't be out for a couple months.

Anyone know where I can find a decently priced copy of S.W.A.T. 4? (Amazon has some at $125+)

I'd prefer a physical copy (regular or gold edition) but will take a digital download.

Why is this game so freakin' rare?  >:(

How are the controls on the 3ds?  Considering picking up a cheap 3ds for smash brothers.
