The Starflight games were great... played the hell out of both of them with my buddy on his Tandy 1000 back in the day. In fact, a few years back... he was digging through stuff at his parents house and found his SF2 floppies. We proceeded to cobble together a working 386 using parts from our respective PC graveyards and played the whole way through... (Yes, we could have used a newer PC and something like DOSBox, but where is the fun in that?!) I don't want to give anything away, just that ending to SF2 is a tad anti-climatic... even by 8-bit standards... but getting to the ending was a lot of fun.

Anyone still need a old (non-slim) style 360 HD? Microcenter has the 250 GB model available for $69.99.

Okay, the GoG holiday sale starts on Thursday. What's on sale?

On Thursday The Witcher 2 will be 40% off ($24) and be bundled with The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

This weekend they will be giving out free codes for various games on their social networking sites and in their forums.

On Monday, Dec 12 at 11:00 GMT until Wed at 10:59 GMT Empire Earth Gold Edition will be FREE.

Also on Monday at that time they are discounting most of their catalog to 50% until January 2nd.

Two new "pay what you want" bundles-

One at http://www.getgamesgo.com/ will start on the 14th and will offer Frozen Synapse, Explodemon, Serious Sam: Double D, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and New Star Soccer 5.  It benefits http://www.gamesaid.org/ which is a UK charity

The other is http://www.indiegala.com/ which is offering
Your Doodles Are Bugged! & DLC,  Zombie Shooter 1,  Zombie Shooter 2,  Zombie Shooter Main Theme,  inMomentum,  Hacker Evolution: Duality,
Hacker Evolution: Untold, & Saira
with all proceeds going to the folks who made them and/or Child's Play and Save the Children.

Plus, http://www.indieroyale.com/ will be offering their Christmas Bundle in a week or two, and the Humble Bundle folks will likely have just finished their latest bundle by now (two hours to go as I type this.)

Gah!  I hate you Compound.  I succumb every time to these bloody Indie Bundles, ESPECIALLY if they have Steam codes.  I have too many games as it is!

And just to further torment Basehart...

The Indie Royale X-Mas bundle will arrive next week.  Details:

Quote
You can now blind pre-order Indie Royale's Xmas Bundle at a recommended $5+ USD contribution, and a minimum of $3.99 USD.

The titles to be offered will include an exclusive, specially remastered adventure game compilation debut (Steam for PC, Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download), an unlikely-themed multiplayer FPS (Steam for PC), a cult puzzle action game (Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download), and an overlooked sim-action title (Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download).

Those who optionally pre-order now will get game access as soon as the bundle launches, lock in their price, and receive as a bonus Rush Coil's festive chiptune album '8-Bit Christmas', as featured on Adult Swim (this bonus is also available to those who pay enough to drop the price during the bundle.)

The Xmas Bundle will launch fully early next week at $2.99 USD and up - watch our Twitter feed or Facebook page for immediate notice at launch time.

And just to make Pak's comment seem silly, here are the actual titles:
The Blackwell Trilogy
Eets
Dino D-Day
The Oil blue

That's a cool site, I might actually buy some of those old games I didn't get back then since I couldn't afford them.

Humble Bundle 4 just arrived too-
Gratuitous Space battles*
Cave Story*
James Town
bit Trip runner
Super Meat boy
Shank
Night Sky HD

And some game called American Red Cross, which has seems really non-interactive. You gotta pay more than the average to get the * games.

Amazon continues to try and drain my wallet with sales on JRPGs.

Legend of the Heroes Trails in the Skies Limited Edition >> $17.09 (PSP)
Tactics Ogre >> $10.55 (PSP)
The 3rd Birthday >> $11.75 (PSP)
YS Seven >> $16.09 (PSP)
Persona 2 >> $19.99 (PSP)
Solatorobo >> $17.13 (DS)
Chrono Trigger >> $12.71 (DS)
The World ends with You >> $12.60 (DS)

TWEWY is one of the great unsung, unique JRPGs out there. Well worth the $12 and change.

I've been wasting many hours the last few days on that game.  Never played it when it came out 10 years ago.  Have to smile at how a state of the art game that used to require a top end machine now looks like a game made with flash that you could play with a web browser.

Hey! Remember the Steam Summer Sale with sales and summer related achievements that dropped earlier this year? Well, the Steam Winter sale starts in about a half hour. If you're curious about some of the achievements, look here:
http://steamtreasurehunt.wikia.com/wiki/Winter_Objectives#Upcoming_Objectives

Or don't if you want it to be a surprise.
