I must mention one that is one of my all time favorites and makes me bust up laughing every time: "Face the Press." Cracks me up. "I'd like to answer that question, if I may, in two ways--first in my normal voice, and then in a kind of silly high pitched whine." How does Eric not lose it? But I'm still considering the rest of my list of favorites.

I also agree that this should be a List O Crap--there are ccertainly 50 fantastic python sketches.

Yeah, that's a more extreme version of my accent.  It's probably from around Devon/Cornwall way, basically the South West of the country.

Ohhhh---I always assumed it was Yorkshire.

I've always loved how most Brits can tell what portion of their small country an accent is from (often down to the city), yet we Americans can only kinda tell someone is "midwestern" or "southern".

Theirs is slightly broader.  Our R's are slightly more pronounced.

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

I also really love a skit they did for their Hollywood Bowl gig, where Cleese is lecturing on the ways to use cream pies as comedic props.  It's played beautifully straight, and has a superb final pieing of Cleese himself.

I love that bit, especially when Gilliam looks to be on the verge of cracking up.

It's known as the Mummerset accent.

Like basehart said, not to be confused with the Yorkshire one (though often "Yorkshire" is really closer to a Lancashire one but is generally an amalgam of the both of them, not term for it along the lines of Mummerset though :))

Conrad Poohs and His Dancing Teeth (and on a related topic, Brian Islam and Brucie)

I LOVE Brian Islam and Brucie!!!!!   Wish I knew what that tune is!  Part of why I looked forward to getting the series on DVD....I could watch that over and over!

One of my favorite sketches is "The Mouse Problem".

I'll come up with more later.

Cheese Shop

How could I forget that one?
"It's not really much of a cheese shop, is it?"
"It's the finest one in town."
"Oh, and whatever gave you that impression?"
"Why, because it's so clean."
"Yes, it's certainly uncontaminated by cheese."

I loved the sketch where the son of a Ballet Dancer tells his father that he wants to be a coal miner.

It was a writer in the TV series.
