I admit it: I click on this thread just to make the "New!" go away.

There's a button labelled "Mark All Messages Read" that makes them all go away.

News stations are still going on about the big "OMG KILLER HEAT WAVE", but I went outside this morning around noon and it was fine.  Kinda warm, but not terrible.  Actually, I left my air conditioning off most of the day.

People complaining of heat in Virginia too its not bad.  Air conditioner is on 78 and it hasn't even cut on.  And its nice outside.  Summer weather.

It could be worse, I could be in 120 degree weather away from my family in 50 pounds of combat gear.  Like my friend who is stiill in Afghanastan.

Yeah it's not bad here in the Carolinas either..
Humidity and mosquitoes have been the real issues but we've barely crossed into the 90's last week for the first time this year and we've had lots of rain the last couple of months so year there's no real heat wave around here to gripe about IMO :-\

Guess the cold front was too weak last night, no relief today, already 95°F at noon.
We've had pleanty of longer heat waves, but this one is the hottest since 93.
I think the streak of time above 70 is now 2 days past the record.

Heck the dew point hardly went below 70 all last week:

The chart is CUMULATIVE, meaning it's the number of storms prior to that day of the year. Not the most useful way to plot the data, but accurate.

Hmmm, better go check one of my bedroom closets for hurricane season in Houston............

3 Cases of bottled water?  Check
Lots of the "25 year" dehydraded food containers?  Check.
First aid kits, batteries, flashlights?  Check.
In case the zombies come, tons of bullets?  Check.

Ready!
