Sitting here with a cognac and pipe listening to the wind.  It is Moaning like I've never heard it before.  Eery.

Yeah, the wind really had me scared. This is the first house I have lived in with a fireplace, and the wind in the chimney was very creepy. Plus we have big picture windows in our living room, kitchen and dining room, and I was super scared that they were going to shatter.

My niece taping her one window in her single room Manhatten apartment.  She and and her husband never lost power.  Her parents elected to stay at their home in East Rockaway  NY because during Irene they didn't loose power.  Well,  they lost the election.  They got water in their basement and are now saying with in-laws who happen to to have gas heated hot water and a land line so she could contact me.  She tells me it might be as long as a week to get power back.

And they have a lovely view of the Bloomberg Tower.

We have that exact same window in our living room, kitchen and dining room. I was scared to death that those things would blow out in the storm. All of them made it okay, though.

Sorry to hear about your niece. Man, NYC is a mess right now.

Reality is, do not tape your windows.

If you really worry about windows, wooden board you can put in hooks outside your windows is the way to go.

I'm not so bothered by the beach house tweets... that's property and an actual investment, even if "the foolish man builds his house upon the sand." The Taylor Swift shirt, though....

Also, who knew body building supplements were so important?

Yeah I meant to say that too.  I know a guy whose family owns a restaurant on the Jersey Shore.  It's damaged, but fixable.  I could understand if the damage were more severe.  Losing a home is a pain in the ass.  Though, a delayed shipment of some trinket is stupid to get upset about.

It's windy and it has started snowing here south of Philly.  It's actually a mix of snow and rain, not sleet that I've seen or heard.  Forecast says it's possible we might get accumulation of a few inches.
