I never saw it past the pilot, even though I found it kinda enjoyable.  I think Eleventh Hour is doing quite well, though.

Clearly Americans have not understood the whole "change" thing.

Of course.  Just when I was starting to get into it.   There have only been four episodes and already it's been chopped.  I've never understood why some low rated shows sometimes receive over a year to prove themselves and other shows only get a month or less before they are sacrificed.

I've heard that:

  • A lot of times it's because the cancelled one is more expensive to produce and/or gets more complaints than another with ratings just as bad that stays
  • One gets more press than the other with the same ratings - "squeeky wheel"
  • Someone with the power to decide these things like the show or someone in it (Tia Leone had a sitcom that kept failing and kept getting "re-worked"...until she married Duchovny and then it got cancelled).
  • The network does have something good waiting in the wings to replace a weak show....or they DON'T have anything and don't want to admit it so they claim they're behind the underpreforming show to save face.

You lost me.  If you mean the change between the Brit "11th Hour" from the US one....I've never seen the Brit one so I have no expectations.

I have the first episode...I keep meaning to watch it.

I think it's also something to do with the demographics of a show and if the right kind of audience is watching it.  Which seems really weird to me.

Me neither, but it has Patrick Stewart in it, it must be worth a look I'm thinking. :)

I thought that about the X-Men movies....and the last two Trek films.   ;)

Why the fuck have they shown Life (not on Mars) on FOUR DIFFERENT NIGHTS (maybe three), and it's still on the air, still a hit show, but they won't even pull their heads out of their asses and realize the only reason M.O.W.E. doesn't get high ratings is because people don't like to watch TV for three hours, especially when the block changes to a different genre. I'm not a genius or anything, but this isn't rocket science. Thursday night is the perfect example. There's a two hour block of comedy, and those people turn the TV off when E.R. comes on because E.R. sucks. The sucky people then turn their TVs on to watch E.R. The same people don't watch all three hours. Try MOWE on another night after ONE HOUR of primetime programming instead of two, and it would probably do better. But Heroes is so boring that people fall asleep before MOWE. It's Heroes fault. Cancel Heroes! Just come up with a stupid slogan for MOWE like "stare at cheerleaders, save the world." Tell people critics are buzzing about it (that can easily be true - just pay two critics to buzz about it). Have an online comic. They're cheap. Use the same ridiculous strategy that makes people think Heroes is good. WHY NOT. Obviously MOWE is expensive, so treat it like it is. Not like it's a burden. Shitty sitcoms should be cancelled after four episodes. Most of them are still on the air. The third-hour timeslot is suicide. This should be obvious. E.R. can hold it because it has an established audience. If it was new, that wouldn't work. HELLO. This is not complicated. Journeyman "failed" in the SAME timeslot. That was another great show with a decent budget. Can't you tell art from crap? It's the TIMESLOT! THE TIIIIIIIIMESLOOOOOT.

You'll be sorry when Christian Slater goes on a binge and EATS LOS ANGELES!

Life is a hit show? I assumed they kept moving it around because it wasn't doing well. I hope you're right.  I've liked it from the very beginning.

It's not a hit show, disappointingly.  I think it's being moved to Wednesdays for a crime block of shows or something.

I think they like to jerk people around with that "full season!" announcement. I don't recall a show that got picked up for a second or third season and got cancelled halfway through. There might be a couple, but it's rare.
