Which DivX release does Rifftrax use?  e.g. DivX 5? DivX 6?

What are you trying to watch?
Almost everything is DRM free now, except for the On-Demand full-length movies.

I think he's just wondering about codec compatibility

I believe it's DivX 6.

Yeah, thanks, that's what I wanted to know.  I'm looking for a new DVD player, and I was hoping to get one with DivX playback capability so that I can burn my downloaded Rifftrax videos to disks for more convenient viewing.  (Seating people around a desktop computer is not the most comfortable way to watch videos.)  One of the more promising region-hackable players states it supports DivX 3, 4, and 5, while 6 has been out there for a while now.

Yeah there are quite a few DivX authorized devices out there. Just look for the logo. You can also look up specific models on the DivX site.
