I haven't seen this yet but I like reading what people thought without seeing all the favorite lines. I like to save those for my eventual viewing. So what did people think of this one?
I'm reluctant to honestly state my opinion, as the last post I made about the movie's sample and riff went south. It seems some fellow forum members boated down the Antree river and got lost. Sad, really...
Well, I thought it was awesome. Some really great lines made it hard to breath for a while, and it's really great to hear the three guys at it again on a movie like this.
Also, the cleaning lady line prevented me from falling back to sleep this morning as I kept laughing at it (as quietly as possible so as not to wake up Pak).
Not their best work IMO, but still enjoyable. The movie is really kinda dull so that hurt it a bit. an M. Midafternoon Shamalamadingdong movie is really hard to make exciting.
I really liked this Rifftrax. I remember the movie being a lot scarier than it really is. Granted the riffs take you out of the suspense, but it is still a really slow movie.
Also, if Cole is going to help all the ghosts he sees, what kind of a life is he going to lead. I imagine all the ghosts of the world learning this kid can help him and lining up so he can be an unpaid ghost therapist.
I was disappointed we didn't get a Mr. Bungles reference in the girls bedroom with all the marionettes and the scene in the tape the father watched.
They just keep getting better and better. Is there no limit to their riffing genius?

what he said.
Loved loved loved the riff! But something else really odd happened this time. I hadn't seen this movie since about a year after it first came out. I saw it once in the theater and then once on DVD and that was it. So watching it again after ALL this time I had to honestly say it really holds up well. The writing was top notch, the acting was incredible, and the twist still works. (I don't mean it surprised me, I just mean they set it up well and paid it off beautifully) I think I'd been judging this movie in my mind too harshly because of how bad everything else M. Night had done since then had been. It's just too bad his high water mark had to come in his second ever movie. (his first was a low budget low profile movie about a stalker or something)
Anyway, all that aside, what an awesome riff! Good job guys!
I loved it too. Many laugh out loud funny lines. It doesn't hurt that the movie isn't all that terrible and holds your attention throughout. It's not as good of a movie as it's cracked up to be, though. I saw it when it first came out on DVD so I was well aware that there was some kind of mind blowing 'twist' to it. So I was looking out for it and when Bruce gets shot it was like, okay, so he's DEAD. And the rest of the movie all I could think was why the HELL doesn't this guy realize he's dead?? And this creepy dead-people-seeing kid befriends him but never ONCE bothers to say 'hey dude, you do realize you're dead, right?' That probably would have saved Bruce quite a bit of grief. Literally. Anyway, so it was kind of hard to bathe in M. Night's brilliance when his twist seemed so damn obvious. I'm glad the guys pointed this out repeatedly. ( I spoilered that for the one person in the world who doesn't know the famous twist yet. Oh, and the chick in 'The Crying Game' was a guy.)
I watched this one last night. I was skeptical going in, as the free sample I watched earlier this week wasn't impressive. In fact, the folks at Legend may want to put extended thought into what is offered as free samples. Taking the viewer to the infamous bathroom scene in The Sixth Sense may not be best moment for first timers looking over the sight. If I were in charge of samples, I would find a moment that gives newbies or the target audience a better glimpse of the material they are thinking of purchasing. For this RT, I would have started with the opening credits. Extremely funny banter beween Mike, Kevin and Bill in the opening moments. Anyway, on to the RT review.
Things I liked:
1) I appreciated their focus on the movie events and riffing those events as they happened.
2) The delivery was excellent and nicely blended throughout. Sometimes their energy and zaniness exceeds the movie being riffed, not this time.
3) I liked that they didn't speak over the dialogue and many add-on sentences to spoken lines of the film were funny.
4) Real life references to events (Demi Moore, HJO's car crash, etc.). Very clever comments...
Things I didn't like:
1) The complaints about the film were minimal, thankfully. I may be in the minority here, but I feel this is a solid piece of cinema (especially in the acting category). The way I see it, directors will sometimes insert what some might call 'chapter breaks', like the shot of the sun rising upon the statue. It allows the audience to breathe a little and take things in up to that point of the film; or marks a turning point in plot, introduces another character, the dawn of a new day, things of that symbolic nature. Listening to the crew talk during that part made me wonder: what movies do they like? Does something have to 'happen' every second of any given film? Perhaps those years on the SOL has given them a bit of movie shell shock. "Nothing's happening....AAAAAGH!!!" ;) C'mon guys, stop and smell the roses once in a while. :)
2) "Is the movie over?" remarks. Again, a decent film
Repeat value: Pretty good. Not one one i would pick up off the shelf again anytime soon, but might again sometime around Halloween.
Summary/Final Thoughts: Wholelistically, the riff pros did a good job with their commentary on The Sixth Sense. It wasn't an 'out of the park' project or their best work, but solid riff writing and performances makes this a good buy for the completist. While I am not a fan of poking fun at films like this one, it did produce a lot of smiles/chuckles from our group, which surprised me since I went into it with doubts. If you've not seen the film, I highly recommend watching the movie unriffed first.
The crew has been lining up alot of sci fi thrillers and horror movies as of late. While I like these types of films receiving the RT treatment, I hope to see the crew mix genres up a bit. If I could make a suggestion for another "thriller" type, I'd go with the Lindsey Lohan 's "I Know Who Killed Me". Nuff said.
Score: 7+ out of 10.
Question:
1) Will we ever see Gary Busey or Nick Nolte as RT special guest riffers? ;D

no.
because both of them would need to take breaks every fifteen minutes to snort more blow. would cause synching issues and piss Disembaudio off.

Not to mention Busey tends to get...well, Busey, when put in a space as small as a recording booth.
yeah......i don't want mike getting raped in an ecstasy-induced rage
LMAO!! :D
Egads, the first time I've watched a Rifftrax within the first month it's posted... I've really been losing track lately ::)
I know I'm probably in a minority here, but I saw The Sixth Sense when it first came out (opening weekend, actually) and really didn't like it. It's not that I don't understand what the rest of humanity likes in the movie, it just never grabbed my interest (I could gripe about it for a bit, but I think I'll leave it at that). So I was a little hesitant to watch it again, even with the riffs... Luckily, one of the local librarians is a riff junkie, and she forced a copy of the DVD into my hands, demanding I 'preview' this one for her while she's on vacation.
Anyway... An excellent rifftrax! I really loved the way they worked so perfectly with the film. I was worried they'd keep the humor stuck to a couple basic points repeatedly, like in some lesser riffs (*coughcoughERAGONcough*), but they really kept it fresh and original throughout! I snorted root beer out my nose (OW!) at the Wargames reference, and I loved a lot of the pure randomness on display here. As much as I love the work on this site, the trio can get a little carried away bashing a film, instead of actually having fun with it.
Me, I still don't like the movie.... but I'd give the 'trax a solid 8/10. Definitely one worth repeat play!
I watched this film when it first came out on VHS (I think? It may have been DVD), already knowing the twist but with a few people who didn't, and didn't guess it either.
What surprised me was the film was much better than I remembered. The Riffing was great, but I found myself having to concentrate to avoid being drawn into the film so much that I mentally tuned the riffs out!
The only exception being that hideously clunky opening certificate scene. That was awful- you could have chosen almost any method of exposition and it would have been less cringeworthy- even an opening crawl! Although what with the credits being so long, you could argue we already had one of those.
Yeah. One of the worst things a filmmaker can do is have a character sit there and read something to the audiance.
::)

For an answer, watch a few re-runs of "Ghost Whisperer." (Which, now that I think about it, would probably be good riffing material in itself, since Rifftrax does TV shows, too.)

Yep, that's pretty much "Ghost Whisperer." That and the sickeningly repetitive reconcile-then-go-into-the-light scenes at the end of almost every episode.

I was hoping that as the father was watching the tape that Kevin or Bill would say something derogatory about guys who waste their lives watching videos featuring puppets ...

I think a sequel would be if Casper showed up at Cole's house and was arrested in an elaborate pedophilia sting operation.

That's what makes it
sexy even more horrible.
I too appreciated the fact that they didn't beat up on the movie itself (much) but just sort of played along with it. This is my first time listening to a riff for a movie that I really really liked (there've been a few where I sort of liked the movie but didn't care that much about it), and I wasn't sure about it going in, but it paid off. Nice work!
My take (http://www.rifftraxfan.com/reviews2008.html#59) and free preview (http://www.rifftraxfan.com/rifferbreakdown.html) now posted
no real strong laugh out loud moments for me, but still enjoyable since I love the guys so much.
I am amazed at how they can take such a somber, suspense-filled movie and make it Hilarious!!!
Using my review system this one did quite well in my opinion, I laughed A LOT and numbers wise it is probably easily top 15 maybe, top 10.
Very good! In fact, the best Rifftrax proper since Spider-Man 3.
I think it is an 8, from me.
It's funny, but I didn't think this one was going to be so great, but there you go.

While Cole was at the dead girl's funereal I kept thinking that it totally felt like a pilot for a TV show. Kind of like the mystery solving aspect of Pushing Daises but with more direct involvement from the dead.
I was never a big fan of the movie, but the rifftrax is quite hilarious. Totally worth shelling out the $10 to buy the movie.
I dug this one. I found the riffing very clever, almost "Jack Frost" clever and I'd rank it among my top 'trax.
