Thought I'd start the thoughts thread. How did Mike and the Weird one do?
Wonderful! Their best yet!
(OK, it's not out yet, but I have no doubt in my mind that tomorrow will prove it true. :^))
Fantastic! I loved it! I hope Weird Al comes back for another one.
Very entertaining, although it would've been nice to have more inside jokes for Al's fans. (What, not ONE joke about Prince?) Still, quite funny, and I can't wait to hear Al come back for another.
Also, did it seem like there were an inordinate number of Disney Channel references?
Quite Hilarious!! Al was A 'Natural' (pun intended)
If ... excuse me ... WHEN Al comes back, please bring Bill along. The Mike - Al - Bill chemistry would be priceless.
Wow. Barely any posts here at all? Am I in an evil, alternate dimension where no one posts about a great Rifftrax? Because it was great!! Pak and I were eating dinner while watching and I almost choked several times from laughing so hard. Not since 300 have I heard so many killer lines. :)
I may have a new favorite Rifftrax. Holy Cow-like creature, that was some funny stuff.
10/10
Very very good. A bit outside Al's normal element (musical parody) but still a gosh-darned awesome riff, gosh darn it. I'm a little disappointed that there was no attempt at a duet between him and Dis.
One more day until the dvd gets here, then I can watch...just one more day...just one more...IS IT F^#$ING THURSDAY YET! DAMN YOU CLOCK!
Did anyone else notice that Weird Al (And this in no way detracted from the riff, which was top tier) seems to struggle with faking an accent? I thought it was interesting that such a skilled musical mimic had trouble with an Austrailian accent. :^)
He does a fairly good Mike Nelson though.
I've said this before with other guests, but it's a bit hard on my ears when two riffers sound the same. It's hard for my mind to pick out who is saying what and while that's not really important, my brain thinks it is.
It's too bad Mike and Al have the some tonal quality to their voice. You could obviously tell Al apart. He's got that unsmoothness (screeching?) that Mike doesn't. It was still very much the same tonality, especially when Al spoke normally.

I thought they sounded alike, but it didn't really bother me that much.

OOPS!! :o
My Bad.. ::)
Fantastic Trax. And as they've started the ball rolling they're going to have to do JP2 and JP3 in the future so those will be perfect times to bring Weird Al back!
Question for Conor or somebody: Did Al help write this one? The reason I ask is: There is a noticeable increase in Simpsons references in this one. I'm wondering if that is part of Al's influence?
my take (http://www.rifftraxfan.com/reviews2008.html#52) and free preview (http://www.rifftraxfan.com/rifferbreakdown.html) for Jurassic Park now posted.
Just had to add my voice to the chorus of approval for this one. A solid-gold fantastic RiffTrax. To think I might have skipped this one were it not for the presence of a certain Mr W. A. Yankovic.

Excellent idea! Other than that a good solid piece of work. However, Mike, there is no reason for you to take a subordinate stance with Weird Al. He's in your world here, not his. I know it was probably played for laughs, but it bothered me somewhat.
Keep up the good work.

No, he didn't. Writing it with Al in mind definitely influences the entire process, but he didn't write himself. If there are more simpsons references, it's purely a coincidence.
One of these days, I'd love to see a guest riffer who is more involved in the writing process. I'd be interested to see what they come up with.
Not saying that the guest riffs written by the RiffTrax team aren't funny (because they very much are), just that I'd like to see what a guest's take on things brings to the mix. I think the Batman & Robin riff clearly shows that (end of script timing aside) material written by other people can definitely be hilarious coming out of Mike, Bill, and Kevin's mouths. :)

Don't forget that there are plans to make a JP4.
This one was my first track and all I can say is
I reauthored this one a couple of days ago when I finally received the DVD in the mail and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Al is extremely comfortable in the booth with Mike, and their banter didn't seem forced or scripted in anyway. My favourite riff had to be Mike's pretty damned good impression of The Simpsons' Comic Book Guy. Hilarious!
I was lucky enough to meet Al after a show recently & gave him props on his Rifftrax appearance. Damn nice guy, that Al. His band too.
