Visual effects...... I can see (no pun intended) that as the robots looked and moved pretty cool and did not have the "obviously CGI" tone that King Kong had.

But sound mixing and sound editing?    How on EARTH are those nominated?    Was this just to do Bay a favor?

Visual effects, sorry, since most of them were unwatchable due to shaky-cam how can can you tell if they were good?

There should be a mandatory deduction for each shaky-cam shot, just to discourage it's use...

I don't know if making your audience deaf counts as awesome sound mixing/editing.

But otherwise, go Transformers! Wahoo!

Huh...no best actor nomination for Shia Lebuff?

No, though he'd win the Best Annoying Little Punk Award...

Transformers does have a great sound mix ... I can also see them winning for visual effects. Anyone know the winners?

Sound Editing went to Bourne Ultimatum
Sound Mixing also went to Bourne
Visual Effects went to The Golden Compass

I just watched Bourne and Transformers (hd-dvd) the other day. I've gotta say that Transformers has hands down the better sound. Bourne is mostly city ambiance.

Haven't seen The Golden Compass

Cool jaw ripping scene in Golden Compass.  But there were no sound effects for it so no award for it.  Bourne should have won for inducing headache and nausea.  Ah well, I never held much stock in the Academies decisions.

As long as it snubbed Bayformers they're alright in my book. Clearly there are some Hollywood bigwigs who really despise that man.
