Here is my standard case. A little harder to make these one's as there isn't much to go on for material.

They did say that they will have them, so I'm assuming the covers are coming later. Just like the live show is coming later, and the downloadable file is coming later.
Here's my version of the CinTit Cover. I'll admit now that its a shameless imitation of JoshWay's MST template, but hey!...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Maybe Mr Death could let us know if they are planning to have covers available?/
I haven't even seen him in the dap chat room recently, I think he's pretty busy.
I'm sure I'll be making one so here's my spot. Patterned after Joshway's MST3k Covers. Hope you like it. Silhouettes will form a full picture with future titles on spine of cover.

OK Gammer! Just got my DVD today!
Gimme somethin you haven't 'whizz'd' on for a cover :scared:
I've been playing around with some thing, but man...... without ANY hi-res or medium-res materials to work with, it is hard to put something together that is not horrible looking.

I tried some things, but my WIP draft has been laying around awhile as I have not been hit by the inspiration fairy yet.
Since it is safe to say that NONE of these movies will have any hi-res materials, I was toying with having a small movie poster in a movie marquee frame (MIA on this draft so far!) that just reads "Now Riffing On". :-\

Now you know the timetube stuff was from a worlds fair? I'm wondering if the unedited image might be larger/clearer.
NICE Start PSL!!
Anyone have a line on the font used for the title? I have come close but can't find the ringer.
...
Did Cinematic Titanic actually create the title screen for The Oozing Skull? I assume they must have, due to the fact that they were required to change the name of the film. That title shot looked pretty pristine compared to the rest of the opening credits.

Nah Cinematic is the only font I have worked out so far. :S
and that font is???
Lexikos.
Hmmmmm, does this concept work for anybody? The front is supposed to be the side of a movie theater with the various now playing signs. As new titles are released, the previous title will be moved to the left and cut in half. Toying with the idea of having the left half of a person on the bottom right so it looks like someone is walking by. Maybe if I can find a piture of one of the CT members walking.....
The back is a mess and needs massive formatting, but I just put in the text as a placeholder for spacing. I dont know if screencaps would look good on the back or not.......
Comments? If you think "it sucks", that is a valid comment too.
Thanks.

Actually, I think that looks pretty good. I like the idea of having the "now playing" posters, and scrolling through them as new ones are released.
I think the back cover works BETTER with the sillouettes than it would with actual pictures, since that is kind of the whole CT experience.
What poster did you use for the one on the left. You should see if you can find the poster for Mitchell for the cut off one since that was the last time Joel was in the theater. Just a thought. I like the concept though.

Look Closer!
About the cover: I'd consider making the posters bigger since they're going to be the only thing changing on each cover...
Wow, I thought I was the only one who though the Mitchel poster would be the way to go. I guess all we MST3K folks think alike!
I agree, ditching the actual cast screen shot on the back is best.
I think the posters on the front should be bigger too. The only problem is the posters for these "fine films" are pretty low res and they will get pixlated if I blow them too much. But, I think I can get away with making them a bit bigger without making them look too much like crap.
I thought for some reason that was Leatherface holding a chainsaw. That's awesome.

Great suggestions guys, thanks.
Back to the grindstone now.
Ooh, I like the idea of both the velvet rope and the marquee sign (dilapidated) at the top. Those would both look great in the existing picture. I'd certainly use that for my own DVD rather than going to the trouble of trying to make one myself (assuming the download option ever becomes available for this title - I'm not going to pay DVD Wagon the extra money they charge for shipping).
A WIP...... still looking for the right velvet rope.

I think you need to start over and try again ;D :P
I think the CT sign looks good as is, but it might be fun if you made it just a little more distressed for each release, add another sticker here and there, then at the one year mark have it on the ground pushed to the side with a newer looking sign up top, which then starts to distress through year 2. Just thinking out loud.
I like PSL's cover, but I think it needs a consistent color scheme. It needs a few distinct colors or sets of colors that can be easily rotated from one release to the other. Kind of like how the Film Crew ones did. The basic elements stayed the same but colors could be interchanged which set each release apart. The brick wall is just too static. It's a good idea though.

I like it, I just wish the riffers weren't so horizontally challenged on that silhouette on front.
Blame whoever designed the logo. I took it straight from there. I wish I could get a clearer image of it, though, so it didn't look so pixillated. The "stretchiness" I don't mind.

That can be fixed fairly easily in photoshop. Here. It's a little blurry, but...meh.
Yes, I performed a similar function in Paint Shop Pro (which is what I use). But as you noted, it blurs the image and I need a sharp, clean line. I did the best I could, but a high-rez version of the logo would make it all better.
Oh, and you may note that the image is gone. I've moved it to my "Graphic Design" web site:
http://www.edwoodonline.com/GRAFX/home.html
It's to be found under "MST3K". You'll find a few MST3K-related items there, included a DVD cover for "K10 - Cosmic Princess" and "Edward the Less". More to be added as I locate them and post them there.
Here's the preview of "The Oozing Skull" so people can see if it's worth surfing over to the Site:

(BTW: I may adjust this one. I want to add some stuff like runtime and region coding (since that info is relevant). I'll post here if I do.)
Thanks for the input guys.
Yeah, the sold red poster frames do suck! I am playing around with lighted ones, wooden ones, etc and will see what looks best.
I like the idea for aging the CT logo metal sign as more films are added, then fixing it up again every so often like a real theater would do.
I also like the idea of a changing color scheme for each release like the FC releases had. How would this work? If you look at the bottom of hte CT homepage http://cinematictitanic.com/wpmu/ (http://cinematictitanic.com/wpmu/) you will see that each of the riffers shilloute heads has a different color for the "star field" pattern behind them. I could use each of these different color schemes for the back of the DVD with each release (sorta like the below WIP)
Is that what you had in mind?

Yes, I am a slave to to the thinpak case!
And yes, the frame DOES have a point of view problem with it. That was just a down and dirty WIP to see how it looked. I have a bad feeling that I will have to be building the frame myself from wood sample JPGs as I could not find any good frame samples online....... which amazed me.
Also, the spine colors and spine text will get an update from just black and white as that would look crappy on the shelves.
You know, you would not think it would be hard to find an image of a hi-res wooden picture frame on the internet, but.....
After much cloning, croping, pasting, etc, I think I have a picture frame I can live with. Changed the spine color, font and added a time tube logo.

Well, if your going for a professional look, I think your text is too close to the sides. Visibility is not usually a problem, so you should be able to reduce the size and make the back feel less cramped.
Also, although I understand wanting to use the original poster, the title as used "The Oozing Skull" should go on the front somewhere. Maybe a sticker slapped over the top or something.

Both good suggestions I think. If you were to go with the sticker idea, I'd say put it on haphazard-looking, so it doesn't completely cover the original name, just slightly obscures it.
Agreed, the text is too close to the side. I will fix that tonight.
And a sticker that reads "The Oozing Skull".......... BRILLIANT. Why didn't I think of that. I will play with that tonight.

It's really coming along good PSL. I love the idea of slapping a sticker across the original poster to change the name. My input would be that the Mitchell thing isn't really welcome. As much as CT & MST3K are similar, they are still from different projects that are
years apart. I understand wanting to fill in that spot with something (since that wont be an issue after this first release) but maybe offer an alternate cover that doesn't have that element in it?
Otherwise, it looks great, and I will surely be using your covers since they are thinpak.

I suppose I'm a bit late to the party here, but your cover looks great! I really like the Mitchell poster off to the site. It's a shame we don't know what the next movie is so that you could have that poster off to the right.
Two minor suggestions, though. I don't know about anyone else, but despite being obviously brighter on the screen, the title on the spine prints out way too close to the background color. Of course, that might just be my printer.
I also have to admit that I'm not a fan of the "distressed" logo on the cover. To me, it takes away from the image. Any chance of getting a version of the cover with a "clean" logo?
Otherwise, though, great work. Definitely the best cover that I've seen so far.

Looks good. One detail though, the disc is actually all region if you want to be anal about it.
Also, not sure why the disc couldn't be resold... assuming the person gets it in the mail, it's a pressed disc and if they get tired of it or need money, not sure how it differs from an old DVD of MST3K that they'd just chuck into a bin at a yardsale or sell to a local preplayed business... Not to mention there's a bit of uncertainty of the future of these releases through EZTakes, if something were to happen to the site these would officially be OOP and thus pretty rare and hard to come upon a new copy....

According to some of the reports from the Cinematic Titanic "launch party" in Minnesota, there were actual DVD cases available for sale. I hope they eventually make this available to those of us who purchased the DVD through EZTakes. That would be cool...

Now that we know two of the next three CT movies coming out, almost time to start working on those covers.
Below is a hi-res poster for "Wasp Woman" for use in your covers.
Naturally, a movie like "The Doomsday Machine" (which was cobbled together from various movies and release a decade after it was made) does not have an official movie poster. Since I went with a cover format (page 4 of this thread) that needed a poster, I had to make one.
Now, as you can tell, I have no artistic skills and no pop-art sensibilities (I can only imagine what "Fish and Hebs" could have done with the subject matter), but I had to come up with something.
This is supposed to be in the style of the 1950's and 1960's horror/scifi style. Please feel free to use is on your covers (or to provide a good laugh).

Funny how much effort went into making a full sized poster when you consider I will only be using about 1/20th of its size on the cover...... unless i change the template I have been using..... well, only used once i guess.
Now that we are getting closer to having CT002 released, I looked at my original cover template again and it looked horrible to me. Since they are changing their "shadowrama", the old CT logo no longer fit either. Anyway, I changed it up some and made the posters more pronounced and put in a marquee lighting with some bulbs dimmer than others (insert joke here) and the back lighting fading at the ends. This is the limit of my lighting skills in Photshop elements.
I will use this design for all future movies and I applogize to anyone who may have printed off the old design. I promise, no more changes.
As always, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Hey All -
Hoping someone can help me. I've been looking for the non-shadow picture of the Cinematic Titanic crew holding the "tube." I noticed a few of you used it on your covers. Any help is appreciated. ;)

I have never been able to find a large hi-res version, this is the best I could find.

Great job on all of the covers in here!! Personally, I feel the official CT covers are kind of ugly.... and amateurish looking. Seems to me like a bit more effort could have gone into them.

Thanks for the compliment.
I too, was surprised by the drabness of the official covers.
I think you need to try your hand at this.

Sounds like a challenge. I suppose I could give it a try. Since I've purchased all their episodes, I may as well! Better dvd labels would be nice too. I didn't care for the fuzzy low quality screen cap stills for their disc labels either.
Awesome job on the covers! The CT originals are very blah. It's hard to tell what movie they are riffing. These covers make it very easy .
Keep up the great work!

That's Kool and the Gang.
I forgot to mention something you might find interesting. Inevitably, you have to do a little fine tuning with the scissors to make these fit some cases. Your "brickwork" design makes it very easy to cut a straight line. ;D
Thinpak cover for volume 4.
Naturally, no poster exists for this horrid little film, so I recreated the one I have seen on the Elvia's Movie Macabre double feature DVD. That seems to be the "official" poster. The back is the same wording as on the CT official cover, plus the credit block and screen shots.
I hope the next movie has a proper poster!

I updated the CT covers as the image was at the wrong DPI setting. The image was also huge, and now they are normal.
I printed out a couple of the updated covers and they look the same to me. I think that is because the pixel diminsions stayed the same between the two versions. Anyway, updated if you want to see if it is worth reprinting. Thanks, and sorry.
Great, just in time to get started on the cover for "Dynamite Bros".

Great covers!
My biggest problem with CT's covers are the annoying "For Personal Use" labels.
"The Alien Factor"
Man, I had no idea how depressing Baltimore looks in the winter. I live in fear of accidentally hearing that band on the radio.
I think I set a record on the number of artistic filters used on the front poster to make a tiny image look like some sort of poster painting. My other attempts to create a poster for this movie were both hilarious and depressing at the same time. :( At least I had better luck with Danger on Tikki Island (whenever that comes out)

Two versions of this one, the normal and the "movie theater censored" type poster that was popular in the 70s and 80s. I was going to call the "RVR II Approved" and "RVR II Not Approved" versions, but I am uncertain how much he likes drawn boobies!
