I would have to be a massive tool to vote for myself, so I therefore vote for myself. ;D
Actually, my vote is for Pak Man.
I am the lone voter for LOTR so far.
Anyone want to put together a poll for who we shall choose to submit the answer tomorrow?
I really want to say Lord of the Rings (because I was the first one who guess it :)) but it seems the clue pointing to KROQ and Mike plugging Phantom Menace is pretty solid. All of the others seem incidental and can go either way.
Yeah, my vote has to go to Star Wars.
1. It is much more deserving of a Riff in the pants!
2. The clue points directly to it.
3. My brain says LOTR but my heart says Star Wars!
I'll throw in a vote for MontyServo to be our ambassador.
We have confirmation. Mike says Star Wars. No mention of LOTR. It's gotta be Phantom Menace because it's the only solution that the clue points to. :^)
There should be some clarification about this vote that you have to read the challenge thread before voting... :)
No 'Other'?
This poll is strictly to determine what the group has decided will be the next Rifftrax, according to the current discussion in this thread: http://rifftrax.com/smf/index.php?topic=565.0
Yes, it's a long one. The gist of it is: the clues pointed directly to the radio station KROQ 106.7 FM, where Mike was interviewed yesterday morning. He specifically stated that Star Wars Episode 1 was being worked on right now.
That's why most people have voted for it.
That certainly seems to be the right answer, and that's the one I back, but I don't think we need to STOP discussing it yet.
Yeah I voted for it, It's the only film Mike mentions by name on the KROQ interview, I just think it's an odd match to some of the clues.
FRANKENSTEIN!
Both would be good, but I voted for Fellowship. Episode I has George Lucas screwing up a franchise that he created, and, well, I never really cared all that much about, while Fellowship has Peter Jackson screwing up the greatest fantasy novel ever written. The amount of obvious plagiarism in all three films deserves to be riffed (okay, so the "allusions" to previous Tolkien adaptations might have been lost upon some modern viewers, but did Jackson really think that he could rip off famous shots from Hitchcock's Psycho and Vertigo, and no one would notice? Now, really...)

I don't think you understood the purpose of the poll.
That's my bad, I made the poll in a hurry and didn't really put the proper explanations in the title. Now that it has served it's purpose, let's let this thread drift away into the depths....

I really have to question the use of the word "plagiarism" regarding a licensed (and loving) adaptation of a novel. Also, define the difference between "ripping off famous shots" and utilizing a technique pioneered by a previous filmmaker. Is the new Battlestar Galactica ripping off Hitchcock when they use the "Vertigo effect" to illustrate faster-than-light travel? Or for that matter, is virtually every film made after 1915 ripping off D.W. Griffth? (The execrable political content of Birth Of A Nation notwithstanding.)

Thank God you clarified that. I've had suspicions you were a Klansman for some time now.
Well this topic is certainly no longer relevant.
