It's the be-spandexed and be-mulleted 1980s, and Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman, is living anonymously among mere mortals.
Filmed entirely in ChaosVision, WW84 finds Diana gigging as a curator of antiquities, and in her spare time saving pedestrians from oncoming cars. Her new work bestie, Barbara Minerva, discovers a Dreamstone among the ancient tchotchkes, which grants the holder one wish.
When it falls into the hands of Babs's oleaginous crush Max Lord, anarchy and mayhem rain down throughout the world. Oh, and Barbara transforms into Cheetah.
Join Bridget and Mary Jo and find out if WW can stop moping about Steve Trevor long enough to become the Shero the world needs!
This has to be the stupidest major motion picture that I've seen in a long time. The only redeeming feature of the blu-ray was the extra where they recreated the 70s TV show intro. The riff was decent, but the movie was incredibly annoying.
For those of you remastering the soundtrack, the readme missed one of Disembaudio's sync lines:
It's at 36:55 in the bluray
'Well, it takes time to become a great great'
As an aside, why does the dialog in such a hugely expensive movie sound so muddled much of the time?
This was fun, well the riff, not so much the movie! Shamefully my first Bridget and Mary Jo riff, but won't be my last!
And oh god yes it was long.
I grew up in the 80s and I don't remember the 80s being this, well, 80s.
I really liked this movie, but I also thought the riffing was pretty good. I liked Bridget and Mary Jo pointing out the plot holes. I never understood why Steve had to be reincarnated into another person's body, instead of simply being resurrected.
Also, how did Maxwell Lord turn Barbara Minerva into Cheetah? He said he "felt generous" and gave her a second wish, but earlier they established that the 1 wish limit is a pretty firm limit that he cannot exceed no matter how much he wants to. He wanted to get that one guy to wish Lord had an audience with president Shmonald Schmeagan, but he couldn't do that because the guy had already wished for a Porsche. Also, it seems Lord never actually touched Minerva before granting the wish. That was the only plot hole I noticed when I saw this in the theater back in December.
