It felt a little lazy, a little thrown together. I'll go 3 out of 5. "I only played Street Fighter 1 so I'm completely lost" hahaha. Not particularly worth a rewatch IMO. Maybe it was the subject matter.

Eh...I disagree. I thought it was pretty great. Not all time great, but the best of any of the kickstarter 2019 riffs so far. The film helped with that. Had never seen it before and was expecting bad. It was bad, but a good target. And not Jean Claudes's worst.

Raul boosted it immeasureably. This still has one of my favorite legit scenes in it, with him delivering it. (It was Tuesday). As to JCVD's best, I'd go with Hard Target. But what was worse than this from around this time period? I mean, I always though he had pretty much one acting speed, and that Woo showcased it perfectly.
And I still have to get around to seeing this, though I bought a used version of it just for the Riff.

Agreed, that scene, especially that line, deserves a much better movie around it.
I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the writers of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. to resist putting in quotes from this movie.
I will give it credit for actually looking somewhat like the source material, unlike some other attempts.

This is true. I especially liked the detail of the control buttons that Bison uses in his base being the same as the game control buttons.
I hope there is only one mp3 file to choose from this time. With Krull I put on the wrong one and had to keep syncing the riffs every few minutes or so. :{

There are usually 2, they are pretty clearly marked which you should use.
So having watched this, it was indeed all right, but not the classic I thought it might be going in. However, when I asked myself how I would have improved this one, I realized something. This movie is so bad it is almost (unintentionally) a satire on the action movie/video game genre. If it's missing a trope of that type, it's only because it didn't go longer. The acting on everyone's part is pretty terrible, Raul notwithstanding, but the characters are so one dimensional there isn't much they could do either. However everything about it is so cookie cutter it has no terrible 'style' of its own.
Contrast this with the hideous hot mess that's Super Mario Brothers. There is a certain stylish terribleness to that movie that made it unique. Megaforce, which for me was a top ten Riff, was full of tropes, but by god this GI Joe knock off abomination had a goofy style that I can't think of being duplicated either. They were trying to make a successful new franchise, with a toy line in mind, and just blew it all to hell. But there was a certain vision which got warped in production, and we ended up with Barry Bostwick in that outfit on a missile shooting motorcycle with cardboard on the front.
Street Fighter just felt like they had a list and checked off everything on it. I know it's weird saying those other two turds, which were technically worse, had vision while this didn't, but this was an uninspired kind of bad. There was no moment where I went 'WTF was that' like I did through most of Super Mario Bros. sure, JCVD is a pretty uninspiring actor, but to the director's credit he didn't have him do much that required actual acting for us to mock. Raul actually got the best, albeit cheesy, dialogue and was good enough to make it enjoyable. The Blanka make up was crappy, but not enough to make me spittake. In SMB, we got Dennis Hopper and that hair. One is a lot easier to work with than the other.
So while theoretically it could have been better, I don't feel like it was a missed opportunity either. And hey, I got it as part of my kickstarter, so I'm not complaining.
EDIT: and as someone else mentioned, they did do a good job with the costumes.

I think the problem was the version I streamed didn't match up with those two, leaving me to guess.
But I am slightly computer-challenged :-[.

Not every movie lends itself to a riff but if Kevin sings or they put in some scripted material it always works for me.

I actually prefer the SMB movie, because it's the kind of movie I would've enjoyed had it not been tied to the Video Game franchise. It's bad, but it's an
interesting bad. Street Fighter, on the other hand, made me angrier because a lot of the scenes were just boring and insufferable to sit through.
Ask yourself this: If the Super Mario Bros. movie was without the Mario licensing, would you have enjoyed it? I thought the plot made sense in it. Whereas in Street Fighter, Guile gets away with insubordination, and Zangief is the typical "Russian bad guy" until he's too stupid to realize whose side he's on. Meanwhile, Charlie Nash and Blanka are combined into "Carlos Blanka". IMHO, the Street Fighter movie is even more a hot mess than the Super Mario Bros. movie, whose major crime was being licensed with a franchise it had nothing to do with. To be honest, though, Bob Hoskins sounded
far more like an Italian-American plumber from Brooklyn than Charles Martinet did, but I don't blame Mr. Martinet for this at all! I like him, in fact! It's just that Nintendo de-Brooklynized Mario and Luigi and I won't ever forgive them for that.

It should also be noted that the Mario games never really had any consistent canon within them and the Street Fighter games did, so I am far more forgiving of movies that stray from Mario source material than Street Fighter source material.
I agree with F-Zero. It felt a little lazy. Then again, a movie this stupid based on such a popular IP kinda writes itself.
Why is Balrog, one of the four lords of Shadowloo, a good guy? Why is E Honda Hawaiian? Why are Charlie/Nash and Blanka the same person? Why is Zangief (my favorite character) an idiot? On second thought, don't answer that. It's like they took the character names and just applied them to whoever looked the part.

I was critiquing the riff itself not the movie.
Strange bunch of responses.

That's because we're a 'strange bunch'. ;)
I brought up the movie's construction because it often goes hand in hand with riffing. Occasionally you can take a northingburger like Manos and come up with a classic, more often you end up with 'The Beatniks'. I just rewatched that and realized I'd forgotten everything about it because it was as 'meh' as they've done, but there's nothing in the movie to really focus on. It was a basic plot with a bunch of tropes typical of the genre. Poorly acted and executed, sure, but also nothing so bad it stands out. I was never attached to the SF game anymore than SMB, which I never played. I just looked at them as the movies themselves, albeit with intentionally ridiculous costumes.
I had them, um, 'privilege' of seeing both in the theaters, opening night in the case of SMB. People leaving SF thought it was a typically bad action movie with JCVD. A packed house (yes, SMB had tons of blockbuster hype), left almost to a person going 'WTF did I just watch?'. That latter should be easier to riff since there's so much more to work with.
I agree the SF riff felt a bit by the numbers, much like the movie, but I couldn't figure out what I would have done to change it that might have made it better. It's like the dead space in 'Night of Living Dead'. The riffing kind of died off there, but what are you going to talk about?

Those aren't really discussions of what was learned. They're really snarky comments about silly things in the movie. It's a form of discussing the movie.

I did actually know that ;) And while that certainly doesn't bother me in the least, I kinda like when those who've seen the release give honest recommendations as to whether they liked it or not. That wouldn't replace snarky discussion--or it shouldn't. But it does seem like more of an either/or thing here. Which is why I was appreciative of this thread.
The Only Mario game I ever played was Donkey Kong so I didn't have a clue what was going on in Super Mario Brothers. Still, pretty funny riff. I'm hoping for the same with Street Fighter, a game I've never even heard of, but I am way behind in watching riffs these days.
