Really, there's no humor like food-based humor.
When our hero killed a random person who was about to burn a witch...it's okay because she actually was a witch...wait, what?
"Giants" are about 6-feet tall, and elves have rubber ears.

And "Dwarves" are about 5-feet tall.
I learned that this entire movie is because the Church, which has lots of money, is too cheap to pay a ransom.
I learned that it's Hawk's wife's fault that Voltan is still around terrorizing people. Because when she burned him and grabbed his knife, she didn't immediately stab him to death when she could easily have done so. It's also the reason she is killed right after.
It's very easy to kill countless bad guys through choppy editing and cheesy film loops.

Eh, the editing of the bow shooting was no less silly and obvious as the bad CGI of Legolas pulling the arrows and shooting his bow superfast.
And the guy's automatic crossbow made me think of Van Helsing's gas powered automatic crossbow.
I learned that a big budget, serious toned, theatrical movie actually used SILLY STRING as a magical spell. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!

Legolas: He rolls a loaded 20-sided die.
The automatic crossbow reminded me of an episode of Mythbusters tried doing such a thing to mixed results, largely the bow easily jamming or just not being very accurate.
I learned that the villain shooting you in the shoulder, killing your wife, killing your father, and in general being a dangerous murderous asshole, is not enough to drive the plot of our hero wanting to kill him. Not, it needs the kidnapping of a nun you don't even know (and they plan on giving him the ransom anyway, apparently). A nun from a convent that really, REALLY, isn't worth in anyway.
The composer really liked Jeff Wayne's version of War of the Worlds.

I think we've just discovered Weird Al's forum handle.
You can totally reload a crossbow with one hand.
I learned that Jack Palance was 61 years old when he acted in this movie.
Ferdy Mayne, the actor that played his father was 64 years old.
I learned it's possible to cram ten or so Doctor Who guest actors into one movie.
And that Jack Palance, when provoked, can make Christopher Plummer in full-on scene swallowing mode look like Kristen Stewart shot full of Nembutal.
This movie was playing at the drive in theater in Saugus, California where my high school boyfriend used to take me in 1981 when I was 16 and had just lost my virginity about a month before it played. He took me there while this was playing... I distinctly remember the hawk cartoon title sequence. We did not watch the rest of the movie.
I learned that I didn't miss anything.
