There is a new interview with the guys here:
http://www.mania.com/54091.html
I really take exception to this part:
QuoteThey also began performing downloadable podcast commentraks called "RiffTrax" available on a website (RifftTrax.com), providing commentary on otherwise unreachable subjects like The Grudge and Lord of the Rings, but the process of downloading the tracks, getting the DVD of the movie, then syncing up the two proved to be too clunky.
Does this guy know something we don't?? That wording makes it sound like Rifftrax is done and Mike is moving on. It was linked from Fark and it will be getting a ton of hits.
Nope, I would say we know something he doesn't.
Sign ups seem broken so can't correct the article or the comments.
I tried to sign up just never got the validation e-mail.
God, those guys are hilarious. It's too bad the comments are so utterly retarded.
Also, it's cool to know they did all four already- I suspected as much, but hey, doesn't hurt to be told. I just wish they'd release all four at once instead of taunting me like this.

exactly
The Interviewer posted a correction in the comments, apparently Kevin asked him to clear things up. Cool
I'm looking forward to these discs, It's good to hear they'll be skits & bonuses
Just so I'm clear, these shout factory "Film Crew" releases aren't affiliated with the whole Legend films/Rifftrax thing we've got going on over here, right?
Only in concept and participants. ;)
I wish he would have made the correction in the actual interview. Not that it's any skin off my nose, but I don't generally read comments and had I read that interview, I probably would not visit rifftrax.com. For one, it seems like the new DVDs have replaced it and for two, he makes it seem like it's a pain. I think a lot of readers won't bother with that line and won't bother with reading the comments.
I'm probably wrong, but in general when I make a mistake in something I write online, I correct the actual piece and don't just post a comment (I've posted comments to "add information" before and gotten emails about the exact same issue). Commenting a correction seems unprofessional to me.
A nice interview, but I really wish that interviewers would cease trying to be as funny as the interviewees.
Got this from Satellite News, also known as mst3k.com.
I never heard of mania.com before this. But it's an interview with the guys talking about their Film Crew movies coming out soon. Too short, but funny:
http://www.mania.com/54091.html (http://www.mania.com/54091.html)
That was a fun interview, but this quote is alarming:
Quote...but the process of downloading the tracks, getting the DVD of the movie, then syncing up the two proved to be too clunky. Thus, the Film Crew reteams for a series of DVDs launching this July from Shout Factory!
Makes it sound like RiffTrax is dead.

Yeah, that is weird. To be honest I didn't read the intro very carefully, just went right to the interview with the guys.
Either the interviewer was misinformed, or he was trying to run down Rifftrax for some reason. In any case, what a jerk!
yeah there's a thread about it here: http://www.rifftrax.com/smf/index.php?topic=2852.0 (http://www.rifftrax.com/smf/index.php?topic=2852.0)
The writer did correct himself in the comments, Kevin asked him to.

Exactly! I also think that even though he made a sort of correction
in the comments (booo!), he didn't correct what he said originally. He just contradicted himself.
Good interview only because of the guys. Bad interviewer. Too much of him, too little of Mike Kevin & Bill.

Thanks for the 411.
sorry I missed that thread and started a whole new one. What a waste!
Bob Honcho here.
It's regrettable that the interview at Mania.com got his facts wrong. As has been indicated on this thread, RiffTrax continues to put out great products and grow. We hope the same holds true for The Film Crew and any other of Mike, Bill, and Kevin's ventures.
Signed,
A Shout! Factory employee
Poor Bob Honcho has to look around and run damage control. :^)
I think it's safe to assume that everyone here will buy anything that has the guys riffing movies on it. At this point, Shout Factory could sell Beta max or Sony Mini-CDs with the three guys and I would pick it up.
Anything but Divx :)

What's wrong with DivX? They offer many quality shows and movies on demand!

Paying for a hacked codec seems wrong to me...
GO XVID!
You've got your video codec in my proprietary hardware!

I don't know about you guys, but a format that allows me to just throw away every DVD I watch after the allotted time period is genius in my book.
(somewhere, in a field full of discarded DivX DVDs, a tear rolls down an Indian's cheek...)
"I thought the purpose of an interview was to connect fans with the subject being interviewed, not to alienate them. Your handling of this interview is ham-fisted at best, insulting at worst. My advice would be to repress your urge to flex your funny bone and instead pay more attention to imparting factual information to your readership. Leave the comments about your inability to hit play on iPod in sync with your DVD player where they belong, on your MySpace blog."
Ouch!
I think some folks are confusing the helpful DivX video codec of today with the utterly failed Divx pay-per-view DVD scheme of the late 90's.
Yeah, the DivX codec is free and so is the basic player. I think there is even a free encoder, so you can take digitally-stored movies... say, your home movies... and compress them to one DivX file that fits on a DVD. That one file includes all your titles, chapters and menus.
And ... wait ... Is this a DivX-bashing party? Nevermind then.
Yeah, I've never paid for anything and I watch AND encode DIVX movies.
I apologize for the confusion:

Hmmmmm..... *Sniff* *Sniff* do you guys smell something burning? *looks around and spies mania.com interviewer, still smouldering* Hmmmm... *pokes said interviewer with a fork...* Yep, he's done..
Eek - that calls for a Dangerfield necktie pull
