Now, I only had two or three beers while watching this riff, but I swear this movie made me feel like I was hallucinating. Another instance of a movie totally unwatchable but for our intrepid riffers.
Yeah, this one seems like it would be particularly hard to riff, especially since they show everything in real time WITHOUT CUTTING ANY OF IT. If I were riffing this, I could only come up with lines like "what the hell is going on?" or "man, this is stupid". I guess that's why I'm not a riffer.
Oh, and did anyone else think the "war wagon" was really a cool toy?

When I was a kid I would have loved it. In the commercial I was more put off by the annoying yelling kids who were psychotically WAY too into this toy.
Reminds me of the asshole kid barking out orders to his friends in the Tonka Truck construction vehicles commercials.
I did really like the "sweatstains" Mike had on right after watching the commercial, too. Hilarious. Reminded me of the "Walnut ranching" sketch from MST3K
Touch of Satan
As for the film itself, I waas just thinking that we finally found a kid who is worse at wishing than Bastian in Neverending Story 2.
Just when you think they had found rock bottom, we have reached rock bottomer. SWHS, Battlefield Earth, Troll 2, The Room, Ice Cream Bunny, and now this insane Magic Christmas Tree. Can film really get worse? How do they do it? The vortex knows no limits!!! I am so afraid of what is next!! You know they will find something worse, they always do!!!
I think one of those cheesey Hallmark Christmas movies would be even worse...
I especially like the child molesting giant and how he was scaring the children watching the movie. Now that is how you make a Christmas movie!
I didn't understand what the deal was with the end of the movie. So the nameless kid asks Santa for a gun, then wanders out into the wilderness and is accosted by a child enslaving giant who for some reason expected him to be there?

Sad to say I remember watching that commercial. And I still think that kid's delivery of "Torpedoes Ready!" was too quick compared to the other's for dramatic effect.
The commercials were silly fun. The cartoon made no sense and seemed to end quite briefly. The movie itself was pretty bad, but I think easier to sit through than SANTA AND THE ICE CREAM BUNNY.
I'm going to have watch this again next Xmas just to try and figure out what in Buffalo hell was going on in this movie.
Great riff though. Why no poll? I give it a 9.

Feel free to start one. I'd probably give it an 8. I liked the short better than the actual movie.
I have to admit, the Battle Wagon was kinda cool. I used to have GI Joe stuff when I was a kid, including my favorite, an F-14 (I forget what they called it, but it was clearly an F-14 Tomcat). Me and my little sister used to do GI Joe vs Barbie, and Transformers vs My Little Pony.
What I didn't understand was, why were the kids so filthy?
EDIT: And again with the "sold at food markets only." Did people really used to buy their toys at grocery stores?
CJ people really used to buy toys at grocery stores, occasionally. In the 70's comic books were in every drug store. That's where I used to buy mine.
Even in the early 90's I used to be able to buy comics from convenience stores. We even had them mapped out as to which ones had the best selections and which ones would put out the new issues earliest in the day.
