Title: Rank a Half-Bloody Riff!

8 Solid as always but not completely awesome IMO :o

9/10

The PRINCE may have been Half-blood, but it was pure-blooded riffing all the way! (God, that sounds like something the anchors of Entertainment Tonight would refuse to say because it sounded too bubbly!)

Well, at any rate, very funny,

Goblet of Fire is still my favorite (I'm not sure if screaming "we must annex the Sudetenland" is ever going to be beat), but this one had some bloody good lines.  I voted 8.

Giving it a 2.  I'm 2 hours and 10 minutes in, and I think I've laughed once.  Their Harry Potter riffs are always pretty awful.  The jokes rarely seem to relate to the movie, and when they do, they're just retreads of jokes from early Harry Potter riffs.  I was less than thrilled when this one was announced; I haven't like the HP riffs since about the 2nd installment.

I guess there's two more to slog through.

I'm torn between getting this for the weekend or one from further back in the catalog.  Are all of the riffs like the sample?  Long setup by the movie followed by a quick joke from one of the guys?  I like it better when they can get some quick-fire stuff in there, and there wasn't anything resembling that in the sample.

FWIW, the "Second Unit Skit" from one of the early Potter movies is one of my all-time favorite riffs.  The Riffs of Potter films, while not my favorites, have always been pretty solid to me.

I'm not going to vote just yet. I won't rate something until I've seen it at least three times. However, I struggled to get though this even once. Although in the end I'm sure I'll be more generous than Thrifty, I have to largely agree with him. Even though I mostly liked the previous HP riffs (especially Chamber of Secrets), I'm quite sick to death of HP at this point, and was disappointed to see yet another one being released less than a year after the last (which seems like only yesterday), instead of Logan's Run, Transformers 3 or something unexpected.

My initial impression is that this is my least favorite Harry Potter riff to date, I'm sorry to say.

I thought it was hilarious. I'd easily give it an 8 or 9. Have to watch it again before firming that up.  I'm so busy with work these days I don't have time to do more here than lurk once a month but there was so much negativity for what I thought was a hilarious riff that I had to chime in my two cents.  Another great installment, can't wait for HP 7!

I have no idea what ol' "Seventy Sheds" was smoking, this one was great. No real extreme laugh out loud moments, but very steadily funny and clever all the way through. I'm not a big fan of the HP riffs, but I really liked this one.

I've got to go 7 on this one, a little too much recycling for me, and only a few big laughs.

It's probably that there are so many of these now that it's too easy to predict the riffs in each situation.

That should be a new thread. "Predict-A-Riff". (or is that too demoralizing?)

I gave it a good solid 8.

And man, the movies themselves just keep getting worse.   If I had to watch that unriffed I would have had to shank someone.

Yeah the HP movies are so DULL.  They're not bad.  If they were bad, like Laser Mission was, it would be campy fun and they'd have a lot to work with.  But really these are just boring.

Agreed. They think they're being "dark" and "mature", but they're just a fucking slog. Harry Potter and the Arch Deluxe.

The only HP film I enjoyed on its own was Azkaban.

The decent parts only came during the very end during the death scene, all the dead body jokes saved it.

6/10 overall. I blame the actual movie.

Since I started buying just the Rifftraxes that I'm interested in in the last year or so, my overall satisfaction has gone up. I've not liked any of the Harry Potter movie riffs that I've seen, and I never brought myself to watch the other one or two I did buy. So this is a skip for me.

Anyway, I guess my point is, perhaps you should consider skipping the last two? :)

You mean we'll not buy them and everybody's happy! Thrifty, feel free to not buy with us.

I don't know, I've just gotten the vibe that over the last several HP riffs, the "Not-Buyer's Club" has been growing slightly. There's various levels of HP Rifftrax consumerism:

1.) Never liked 'em to begin with. *Hiss*
2.) Liked (one of) the first 2
3.) Liked 'em up to Azkaban or Goblet of Fire, but worn out by now. "Does the world really need 8 HP riffs?"
4.) Liked all of them so far
5.) Determined to enjoy every Harry Potter riff, even before they riff it!
6.) Opinion on HP is irrelevant. "I need my Rifftrax fix & will buy whatever new Rifftrax they release!"

I'm somewhere around #3.

I'd give it an 8. I actually really like all the HP riffs.

The sight of high production values wasted on a ridiculous hole-ridden plot and ruined with atrocious actors is just something I love to see. HP does an especially good job of just NOT EXPLAINING half of the things taking place (what in the hell is a Half-Blooded Prince? What does the potion book have to do with anything else?) it's hilarious. I'm glad I've never read the books, or things might make sense.

I hope they finish the series.

Well, I don't think you have to worry about that.  :-\

If you'll indulge me, though, let's say they were only going to riff one of the Deathly Hallows. Would you rather they riffed Part 1 or Part 2?

I'm thinking 2.  There were so many scenes in Part 1 where literally nothing is happening, I think the "do something!" riffs would eventually get tiresome.  There's a lot more going on in part 2.

Another great HP riff. All have been top notch in my opinion, and this riff continues the streak.
