Braun is German. The guys at the American embassy tell Gold that his daughter is KGB (Soviet), yet he's surprised she knows how to shoot and drive. Apparently she's also a veterinarian.
We also have Cubans, Russians and one Austrian. And they're all in some unspecified African country.
What!?
But at the end it turns out she wasn't his daughter? So...
True, but he didn't know that. He also didn't notice that her accent was neither German nor Russian, but American.
Right, Prentus sent her as life insurance... even though she's terrible at everything other than driving, unless there's a secret spy hand to hand combat technique of jumping on assailants backs and being swung around like a hulahoop... So was Borgnines real daughter a veterinarian? Was the feeding lions and handling snakes things just part of her cover? Oh god... this movie is treating my frontal lobe like a speedbag...
To be fair, in the 70s/80s there were a lot of Cuban "advisors" running around Africa. (In Angola, for example.) And the Soviets were everywhere in the Cold war.
