Okay, can someone tell me why the Police song "Message in a bottle" was not in the movie Message in a bottle, starring Robin Wright Penn and Paul Newman?
Can someone please explain why the Police song "Roxanne" was not in the movie Roxanne, starring Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah?
Can someone tell me why the Police song "Murder by numbers" was not in the movie of the same name starring Sandra Bullocks?
And finally... will someone tell me why none of the songs from the Police album "Ghost in the machine" were not in the movie of the same name?
Sure.
Bottles have been used to harbor messages sent by sea dating as far back as 310 BC, when the Greek philosopher Theophrastus set just such a message adrift on the Atlantic to verify that the ocean did indeed flow into the Mediterranean.
The phrase, "ghost in the machine," was coined by a British philosopher in the mid-20th century as a critique of Cartesian dualism. It predates the eponymous Police album by 34 years.
Roxanne was the name of the cousin of the actual Cyrano de Bergerac, and the name of the love interest in the play "Cyrano de Bergerac", on which the movie "Roxanne" is based.
And lastly, the film "Murder By Numbers" contains no songs of any kind by The Police because it is a very shitty movie.
Glad I could help.

..... its a drag. Oh sorry, thought you were going Pink Floyd on me.
Eventhough the titles of the songs are spot on with the names of the movies, the lyrics in the songs dont really match thematically with the movies themselves. Lord, I cannot believe I just wasted brain cells thinking that one out.... :P
why did murder by numbers have the number of the beast in it. Thats what i want to know, seemed so damned out of place.

As much as I hate to say... that is an excellent answer. I just get off on these weird tangents sometimes because I find them absolutely hilarious... but nobody else does but i have to say it anyways ;D
yeah!

Um... because the police song Roxanne is about a prostitute?
