Hello Rifftrax Forum;
I've decided to start the definitive poll of what series we as fans would like Mike, Kevin and Bill to continue.
YOU GET FIVE (5) VOTES so go nuts.
They've touched a lot of bases so there are a lot of choices and sub-choices.
I think I've got the major ones listed but I've disqualified Harry Potter (new one was just released,) and Road House 2 (Obscure, does exist though.)
List your more specific choices in the comments if you wish.
The last two Jaws films are comedy gold.
Also would like to see them finish off the X-men saga and the remaining Trek films. Lots of funny left to be mined from those franchises.
I think we will see more returns to some of these franchises. But there really is no rush as they are proven best sellers and can be saved to plug holes in the overall Rifftrax schedule.
We are almost certain to see the remaining 4 Potter films and the remaining 3 Twilight films get the Rifftrax treatment. (At least I hope so, as they have been some of my favorite Rifftrax to date.) And if I were to wager a guess, I'd say that more Trek is likely at some point too.
Generally I would prefer a stand alone movie than any part of a series. I find the idea of a new Harry Potter or LotR or whatever to be kind of boring.

Did they already riff a 3D CGI Zemeckis nightmare that I missed? Are you counting Beowulf as part of a 'series'? Cos I wouldn't.
That said, the only way I'll ever watch Polar Express (shudder) again is with RT.
They may not be connected with the same story, but I think they're connected because of the bizarre technique, and by director of course, (Bobby Z needs to get back to his "Back to the Future" roots.

Yeah, Beowulf was actually a really good movie (that could have been done in live action).
Besides, Polar Express is such a hollow "4D simulator video" of a movie that I wonder if they would have enough riffing material?

4D? It travels through time then? Did my mention of BTTF put you in a temporal state of mind?

Mine had Batman riding a dinosaur fighting Nazis. So, maybe not.
For Star Wars: don't forget the Ewok Movies
Plus, I want them to continue with the Halloween movies
EWOKS!!!
You should add Ghost Rider to the other Marvel Heros category. That movie deserves it.

Yes! It probably isn't there because there is a Rifftrax Presents of it (and it's unlikely that it will be done by MKB for that reason). I wasn't very happy with the Rifftrax Presents, so I really want to see this one riffed well.

Yes I did forget the Halloween franchise, seems a little late to add it now, actually six or seven votes had been cast before I realized that I forgot the "Alien" and "Predator" franchises. The other "Halloween" films are much more violent and gory than the original and as Mike himself said, they usually avoid "Hard 'R'" movies, I read that somewhere when asked why he won't riff "Showgirls."
I also forgot to list the "Ewok" films, but they are there in spirit. Have they had a wide DVD release, or any DVD release?

Yes, Darth is right. I haven't heard the riff yet personally, I have the extended version DVD otherwise I might have checked it out.
I really want to see them do the "Superman" films, starting with the most recent is fine, but I think the original might make for a better riff, and don't forget part IV..."Golan Globus; Noooo!"
I've been waiting for the Hulk films too, especially after they did that episode of the TV show, I figured they would do the new Edward Norton one at least, I started waiting soon after they did "Iron Man," so far no go.

Dude! There is one series that should definitely be on the list: HIGHLANDER!! Five full episodes of comedy gold, though the first is one of my favorite movies. Come on!! There can be only one
This poll is about series they have already done at least one entry of. Highlander does not count.
Ohhhhh, perhaps too many sonic screwdrivers.
I just bought my first Rifftrax, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of FIre" and then bought the two X-Men ones. Really looking forward to more X-Men. I'm surprised there isn't one for the third film yet, given how badly it needs to be riffed!

Welcome aboard. Don't be afraid to try out some Mike solo riffs. I heartily recommend Crossroads, as well as Road House.
I think some of these series may have been essentially abandoned. I'm pretty sure they will finish LOTR, but I really don't see them doing X3. I can only hope that I'm wrong for the latter.
I think the chances of LOTR being done are nil. I don't think they want to do another 3 hour movie, and I think the format of the site has changed and they are only doing shorts and huge blockbuster from the past two or three years. i think they have pretty much given up on anything older then 3 years old and that made less then $300 at the box office. My guess is sale for older non blockbuster films are were just so bad they were not making a profit.

Well, $300 would be a pretty amazingly poor showing for a movie.

I'm pretty sure they're saving LOTR ROTK for a holiday release and/or pre-Hobbit hype. Probably NOV/DEC the year they release "the Hobbit" teaser trailer.
They just did Titanic, possibly to go along with the "Avatar" hype, that was 3hrs 14mins and 12yrs old, made a billion though. "Jaws" was 30+ years old, and Casablanca was 60+. What about "Maniac" and the other DVDs, all old, and "the Room" and "D-Wars" made squat at the box office. I think that we have proven that the core fans will buy whatever they put out, but most blockbusters have a thick layer of cheese and deserve riffing anyway.
I think the better movies, meaning the ones you could watch a dozen times without the guys, actually make for better repeated viewings with them. I'll watch the riff for "Iron Man" over "the Room" any day, I think the jokes for both are pretty average.
I think the sooner after the DVD release that they do the riff, the weaker the riff, like "
Iron Man," "300," "Avatar," "Terminator 4," and "New Moon." I think they should give each movie a few weeks writing time to gestate into hilarity, I know they probably have pre-release screeners to work with, but the end result seems rushed.
They've probably been stockpiling jokes for "Titanic" for a decade, which is why it's one of the best, the scene where they riff the pan over old Rose's pictures deserves an Emmy or something. I still only like the second half of that movie by itself though.
Before you start slamming me with, "'New Moon' is an awesome riff" replies, it pales in comparison to and a lot of the jokes are reused from the original, it's an average riff, and a 7/10 at best.
Well, those Lord of the Rings movies just put me to sleep now, seem 'em too many times. Even with the Rifftrax, which are quite good, watching one is more effective than a glass of warm milk.... mixed with bourbon....
I suddenly miss my grandma.
Anyway, my vote is for First Contact. I'm skeptical that there are any new jokes to be made at the expense of the original crew... although they proved me wrong with they riffed the new movie. Maybe it's because the Shatner jokes just never get old.
I know Picard isn't the hammy slab of Candian bacon that Kirk is, but there's lots to make fun of. He's a bald limey playing a Frenchman. That could fuel Mike, Kevin, and Bill for a year.
They already made a joke about putting truck nuts on the Enterprise, though, didn't they? In the newest movie? Ah hell, they could do it again! That part when the Borg are installing that beacon... right there, perfect spot for a truck nuts joke. Or when that sphere escapes from the exploding cube "looks like one of the ship's truck nuts escaped."
It's all there, baby.
The only sequel Rifftrax I like are the Fantastic Four ones. Too many recycled jokes when they do franchise movies. They do them mostly to take you completeist-nerds money.
There is no option for the Harry Potter movies
oh, and you might as well put Twilight on there. I want to see the rest of the series riffed
I think this poll was for series' whos later installments have already been released.

I was actually quite pleased in the most recent Harry Potter that they seem to have dropped the 'Satan worshipping' so-called jokes. Wizards in historical fantasy literature (e.g. Merlin) simply have no relationship to such evil fictions. If they were doing it to make fun of the fundamentalist right's accusations when the books were coming out, they missed the mark because the jokes never implied such a thing; they sounded like they were mirroring - rather than mocking - such ignorance. [Wouldn't have been funny if they were mocking it either, I'm just saying....]
Actually, kinda' dropped my main point in amongst the explanation. What I was trying to get at is that they tend to occasionally surprise by not rehashing the same stuff every time they do a sequel. [Oh, and I agree with you: the
FF & the Silver Surfer was funnier than the original... tho I still love the line from the original that said basically, "a woman turning invisible is no big deal, but seeing her in bra and panties the crowd gasps?"]

Darth was right about Twilight, I threw Saw 7 on there just because it's been announced, they wouldn't get that far into the series anytime soon anyway.
Four words: MORE SYLVESTER STALLONE MOVIES!
Seriously, 'Over the Top' is still one of my favorite Rifftraxs and I'd love to see Mike, Kevin and Bill take on more of Sly's films.
Megane Johnson is right!
Cliffhanger, Rambo, Rocky III & IV, Daylight, Demolition Man would all make great riffs.
I cannot wait until they continue the LOTR and Harry Potter series. Those are the ones I'm looking forward to most.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's okay, they can take my money. :)
You guys really don't think they'll do any more X-Men?
I agree about Demolition Man.
I'm actually surprised they haven't done Return of the King yet, considering how fast they burned through the last few Star Wars movies.
The POTC sequels could be even better riffs than the first one. Especially all the confusion about the deals and counter deals in the third.
By the way... speaking of sequels... is the sequel to this thread going to be:

Yeah, yeah. I left out Oscar, Rhinestone, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot, Spy Kids 3, The Italian Stallion, FIST and Tango & Cash too. I had to stop somewhere.
I'd go with Jurassic Park and Terminator... though Dawn of the Dead would be funny as hell i suspect.

Of course they do. According to several versions of the legend, Merlin was Satan's son, but was baptized shortly after his birth, and thus avoided becoming an anti-Christ.

I'm pretty certain by now that they make jokes because they think the jokes are funny, not because they want to "stick it" to members of a particular religion.
It doesn't have to make sense, if it's funny it works. I personally love the Satan worshipping Potter jokes....

So they just did about three epic (relatively speaking) length movies in a row, I think something a little more small and goofy (er, goofier) is in order. Maybe some dumb action movie like On Deadly Ground (the killer environmentalist adventure) or the Octagon (I saw that a year ago, a hilariously bad movie).
As for series, my choices remain. I think they should do Halloweens 2 and 3 (I know three is the obvious choice, but I think there is potential in two). And frankly, I could see them doing some seasonal stuff: I think they need to do the Rankin Bass specials around the holiday times and horror flicks on Halloween.

Well, I'll never watch a horror RT. I think a lot of other folks are in the same boat, so I'd just as soon they leave that to Presents.
I'll watch anything, as long as it's funny enough (and I have the $, of course). For instance: Live show of "The Grudge"? I've never seen it, but I'd be there anyway.
Has anyone ever told you you talk more about the things you don't like than the things you do like?
Like stansimpson, I will watch anything that strikes me as funny, regardless of genre. After all, I did not want to watch The Room because it looked so bad, but it ended up becoming one of my all-time favourite rifftrax. There have been a couple of RTs that have fit perfectly with my "type," but then they fell flat (doesn't happen often, but it does happen). So I try not to dismiss something just because of its genre.
Something that IS in my genre is Lord Of The Rings. After the sweet meaty goodness of The Two Towers, I have been waiting for the Return Of The King rifftrax for so long! I am so happy about it that I am jumping up and down, shooting sparks out of my butt (not a pretty sight)! ;D ;D ;D

I voted for Alien (Aliens), Jurassic Park (2), Terminator (1 and 2), and Jaws (the later the better). If I'd read/thought a moment more I would have added the original Batman series + Catwoman, all of those would make good riff fodder, but I'd especially like to see the first Batman movie riffed.

At least we got two movies riffed during the MST3K days, back before Toho got so strict with their copyright. I assume that Godzilla 1998 will probably get at least a Rifftrax Presents, since it's presumably the easiest one to get a hold of. Till then we still got the Quiptrack for it.

there are 28 godzilla movies out there they should riff one of them
At least we got two movies riffed during the MST3K days, back before Toho got so strict with their copyright. I assume that Godzilla 1998 will probably get at least a Rifftrax Presents, since it's presumably the easiest one to get a hold of. Till then we still got the Quiptrack for it.

when did rifftrax haft to worry about copyrights?
They don't. They have to worry about the dvds being available so the fans can actually watch them

They find once it gets even a little bit like hard work - once it's a DVD that isn't commonly in people's DVD collections - sales decrease
dramatically*. I guarantee you that even though a bunch of us would buy and enjoy an old school Godzilla riff, the sales would be extremely low. You're more likely to get a public domain Japanese movie than a Godzilla one.
Not saying it's impossible, just don't count on it.
*I think Bill said it was something like seven times less? I might be misremembering.
Quotejust don't count on it.
with the new one coming in a year in a haft a re-release of most of the old one's will most likely happen to cash in on the new one
and they will be all over the place.
(me just being to dame positive)

But if there's a lot of different releases that can also add tot he confusion. (I also think the new one isn't going to encourage regular folk to pick up the originals.)
I DO think they'll riff the new one, so there's that.
I am also sure that sooner or later there will be a RTP of the US Godzilla. Maybe Matthew Elliott, or maybe the return of one of the other groups?
*sigh* still it would be nice to see them riff a monster movie from the 70's or 80's.

MONSTER MOVIES the one's made out of rubber that eat countless extras before getting blown up in a glorious fiery explosion at the end of the movie.

When I mentioned copyright, it was more of a reference to the difficulties in getting the Godzilla MST3K episodes officially released and keeping them on the market without Toho interfering.

I still vote
Godzilla 2000 - while some guy and his daughter (who is more of a grown up than he is) is developing a "Godzilla Warning System" and deal with a female reporter, some evil company raises a rock from the bottom of the ocean that flies off to suck up all of the computer information out of a building in Tokyo (because it's the "Y2K Monster") and then changes into a dead ringer for the Rancor from RotJ to fight Godzilla....
What's not to love?
I have to go with indiana jones........the Temple of Doom is just wretched. the 3rd one is pretty good, but I know the riff clowns can make it funny
Indiana Jones for sure.
Most of the rest of those I'm only lukewarm about. There are a lot more stand-alone movies I'd be more interested in seeing riffed.
(I'd happily take more Harry Potter, but I know they need to space those out a bit).
james bond. Why have people ignored this?
And big montana, where did you get your sig?
