... by the sheer evident crappiness of this movie.
Seriously, I refused to watch Avatar with family, boyfriend, or friends because I knew I would hate it, but just watching that sample scene, the big blue character designs were so off putting, the background colors so garish, the dialogue about "This not to be thanked for! This is sad!" was so clunky and grating that I couldn't finish it. I cannot imagine watching a double feature length movie of that kind of thing, Riffing be damned.
Any movies you won't watch, even with RT?
I'll watch any riffed movie once, since I'm hardcore enough to buy all of them. But Avatar is one of those I can't watch more than once. Some are even worse when riffed, i.e. The Phantom Menace.
Never seen Crossroads and don't plan to. Like Thrifty I buy almost everything Rifftrax puts out. Watched Avatar straight up before I finished authoring a riffed DVD and won't ever watch it unriffed again. It's a contrived special effects extravaganza that beats you over the head with it's message that earth people are bad Americans (including that Australian until he dumps his human body.)

That is a shame. You are missing some comedy gold. It is a great track.

Nope. I will watch any RiffTrax(ed) movie they throw at me. I may not watch it again... but I will watch it at least once. I trust them to give me a funny product no matter what they riff. Sure some don't hit the mark for me every time but neither did MST.

Oh great. I can already feel my resolve starting to waver.

It's the source of the blue beer running joke.
I haven't and won't get any single riffer trax but I've gotten all the others. I can't think of a single movie being riffed I wouldn't pick up the trax for if it had at least two riffers. Hell, I'd even get a rifftrax for Traffic and I fucking HATED that movie.

I am being serious. I decided I wouldn't see it because it never seems to come up much for discussion but as soon as someone says it's good I'm reconsidering. If you wanted to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge I'm not sure what I'd say.

Though they do have a different feel, I always liked the Mike solo tracks. Just listened to Cocktail for the first time last night and I've always liked the riffs for Over the Top and Predator.
I first started listening to rifftrax when it was just Mike's solo riffs. Ok I'm going to purchase Crossroads.

You're name is awfully appropriate, Lemming Howard.

As it turns out out...it is. I was half asleep when it came to me. I thought I was just riffing forum names.
Heard the Crossroads riff. Very good and the movie wasn't that hard to watch. Zoe and Brittany are easy on the eyes. Thanks for recommending it. Now I'm hardcore too.

Avatar 2 will be the first one that I can't even watch once. I even made it thru BOTH transformers movies at least once. Avatar 2 I wont subject myself too
Avatar actually made me ANGRY. It was all I could do to make it through even with the Rifftrax to help.
The visuals are pretty for about 15 minutes; but after that, it's a ridiculous story with the most one-dimensional characters I've ever seen, and a hamfisted attempt at allegory... that shows no ability to understand nuance whatsoever.
It's like James Cameron coming to your home and calling you stupid, in seventy hour long movie form.

I was hesitant about the single riffer ones at first. But I went back and got them all and was very happy with them. "Over The Top" is a classic. "Road House" and "Crossroads" are really good too.
I have to say, Crossroads was actually a far better movie than I was expecting. With the exception of the singing bits, it really wasn't that bad. Granted, I was expecting very little, plus I tried Crossroads immediately after Glitter; now THAT movie is pure garbage (The Rifftrax for it is awesome though). But still, I don't really mind watching Crossroads. I rather watch it than either Twilight movie (especially New Moon).
As far as the "Mike only" Riffs go, Roadhouse and Over the Top are the "must haves". Crossroads and Predator are pretty good too. XXX (I love the running gag about everything exploding, but other than that...) and the Fifth Element are decent. I wouldn't bother with Cocktail. If there are any others (other than the Legend Films releases), I haven't seen/heard them.
I agree though that riffing works far better with more than one person. A lot of the Mike and Kevin riffs are among my favorites (eg Casino Royale, The Matrix...). Sometimes I actually prefer two people to three. When it's all three of them it often feels too much like they're just taking turns saying their lines.
On the subject of Avatar, I actually have a background in computer graphics, so I don't mind watching this movie (with the Rifftrax of course; only seen it once without) just for the technical aspects. I watched Jurassic Park six times in the theater for pretty much the same reason.
