Title: I have an idea
Post by: ruckstande on January 22, 2007, 06:26:06 AM
This is my first post but I just had to see if anyone else thought of this.  I was driving in the car the other day listening to Opie and Anthony on my XM and had a pretty interesting idea.  Would a Live Rifftrak work over satelitte?  I know they did it live in San Francisco so why not over the air?  Just pick a movie to do or that you have done and see if works?  I would love to set this up.  Just hook the satelitte radio up to your stereo and there you go.

Welcome to the forum ruckstande!

Sounds like a neat idea. However, I think if the trax got outta sync then you have no way of controlling the rifftrax portion of it to get it back in sync (can't pause or rewind or stop).

On the other hand, it would have been neat to hear the RiffTrax Live!, that they did in San Fran, over the radio. I would have love to hear the add libbed jokes and the other things they talked about on stage.

That would be the fun part.  You get to catch the mistakes if any and enjoy listening live. I think it would be terrific.

Are you saying it isn't a good idea?

Naw I mean the sync would work better if it was showing at the same time in our living rooms as they were broadcasting it. Cable tends to show everything at a universal time, so if they picked something playing on premium cable to riff, it would sync up perfectly (In theory. :^))

Very true, but what there would always be some problems especially with different cable companies and satellite services.  Plus, if it were associated with a new release DVD the would promote the hell out of it and boost sales.  Snakes on a Plane could be huge right now on DVD if this were to be done around the same time as the DVD.

If they do this, wouldn't they have to start paying royalties and stuff?

Why would they have to pay royalties? Becuase they may play the audio from the movie?
