I'm afraid I need convincing to pick this one up, so what did you guys think?
Good, not great. Probably a 7.5 or 8 for me.
I have the finished reauthored DVD waiting at home, but I think it'll be a few days before I can bring myself to watch it. It's a shame my compulsive nature forces me to purchase and watch all Rifftrax offerings. I just hope to God they never do The Godfather or Goodfellas.
huh? why?
What tone does the riff take?

I haven't watched the riff yet, just the movie.

What did you like/not like about it?
Can you compare it to another Rifftrax release?

It had plenty of good jokes, few laugh out loud ones. I don't know, it just seemed to have a little less energy than some of the other riffs. I'll have to watch it again sometime later and see if it improves with more viewings. I was surprised there was no riffs on her being sent directly to Hell, do not pass God, do not collect 200 dollars, type of thing. So her going to Hell is completely bypassing God's judgment?
I am a lifelong horror fan and I know Raimi's earlier works so I wasn't disturbed by the goo and ooze aspects of the movie.
I know I'm in the minority thus far on this thread, but I really enjoyed this rifftrax, it wasn't perfect but it was pretty good to me. A solid 9, I was entertained (both by the silly movie and the laughs Bill and Mike were providing!) I found myself to be giggling and laughing thru this entire movie.
Not a classic Rifftrax but it made a very silly movie very fun. They gave me laughs and that's all I ask!
PS: It was great to have Bill and Mike work exclusively together for a change. :highfive: (not saying I think less of Kevin, it's just a nice change of pace)
I gave it a 9. It's not the greatest but a lot of the riffs hit me just right.
right in the middle with a 5
It felt rather lack luster. Not a lot of zip and zing and zowie! :) A few chuckles here and there. It did pick up near the end, at about the time they had the sceance. Movie was asinine though. All that spewing of various fluids in a womans mouth and face... It's like Sam Raimi's version of porn.
They made a fair number of The Happening jokes, and some Wiseau gags. There was a great part during Justin Long's speakerphone conversation with his mother. "Turn up the speaker phone a little louder. I'm pretty sure she's long gone!"
I didn't understand the Justin Long hate. I sit because he's on those stupid "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials?
About an 8 and half for me, but voted 9. I thought it was pretty good throughout. Definitely not their best work by a long shot but I enjoyed it.
I gave it a 7. I thought it was really good and funny, and I laughed a lot... I just can't get myself to give it more than 7. Maybe after a few more views, I'll go up to an 8.
I gave it an 8/10
Easily, my favorite Mike & Bill track. This is actually surprisingly good. However, the movie. Dear God the movie....
I'm with Thrifty on this. I HATE horror movies. Almost entirely due to the fact that they tend to fixate on young girls being hurt. And thet PISSES ME OFF :grr: Seriously, the idea of females being hurt, let alone tortured for all eternity, infuriates me. And it doesn't help that Alison Lohman looks a LOT like my sister.
Still, I'm glad I gave this one multilpe tries before rating it, because I hated it at first. However, it does grow on you.

Yes, albeit mainly in the chipmunk cheeks department. Still, at the risk of sounding creepy, my sister is pretty cute.
I really like this Rifftrax. I hadn't seen the movie before viewing it with the trax. I gave it an 8 in your poll. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend you pick it up! :)

The police hauled the PC Guy in for questioning.
Despite this being one of the worst movies I've ever seen, this was one of my favorite riffs ever. They actually made this movie watchable, which is remarkable all by itself. And I laughed out loud more often than any recent riffs except for Titanic and Twilight.

You made a horrible mistake in mentioning your sister being cute... there are a lot of hounds and scoundrels on this forum. :D I'm sure she's too old for me though....
Hey, this is my 1377th post!!! Those are my initials in alpha-numeric code!!! 13-7-7
Given my disappointment with the Paranormal Activity, I thought it was probably time I gave this one a try.
It was actually quite funny. Yeah, lower energy levels and not as drop-dead funny as some of the others, but at least they weren't complaining the whole time, like Paranormal. They seemed to have at least a *little* fun with the movie.
And to continue along a thought I had in the Paranormal thread: if you really hate horror movies (Thrifty, CJones, I'm looking at you) then how can you even remotely pretend to be objective about the quality of a film IN that genre? Make fun, tell jokes, great. I LOVE that about Rifftrax. But don't. Continuously. Complain.
CJones, I don't even have the time/energy to make a full argument in favor of horror as a genre. But I will say this: whether you like it or not, and despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, women are societally viewed as the "weaker" sex. Culturally, we will always be more fearful for the safety of a woman than a man when placed in the same life-threatening situation. Therefore the majority of horror films endanger more women than men. Because it evokes more tension from the audience. Additionally, these are usually young women, because we fear even MORE for a child than an adult. So the younger you make the female being stalked/tortured/haunted, the better. Up to a point, obviously, or then it becomes about frightening a child as opposed to frightening a young woman. And there is far less tolerance for frightening children than there is for frightening a young woman. That's all very NOW of you to hate when women are hurt, but the fear of pain is one of the primary motivators of a horror film and if you want to effectively maximize that fear, you need to go with whoever gets the most tension from the audience: a young woman.
I would also add that you're completely ignoring the fact that the majority of survivors in horror movies are women. If you have a group of 10 teenagers in the woods and a werewolf/ghost/zombie/serial killer attacks them, there's a 95% chance that the single survivor of that group will be female. (Oh, and also white. Horror movies are worse than Archie Bunker.)
I get what you're saying, but one person's "complaining" is another person's "joking." To me they were joking, not complaining. But of course YMMV.

I thought the paranormal activity riff was friggin' hilarious. I'm not as bugged by complaining as some... as long as the complainer is funny while he does it. Since Mike & co. are always funny to me, I guess I'm safe.
The complaining can drag for me if its too monotonous, but there's only a few times within riffs where its bothered me, and the rest of the riff has always made up for it for me.
Yeah, for me too. Lemme think, it was one of the Star Wars movies was the only time it got tedious for me. Maybe the first one.

I just finished watching that one yesterday. Even that riff with the complaints is very funny. :D

Have you tried Cloverfeild, amost as whiney. Not liking a movie is not a joke imo
I think it helps if you hate the movie as much as they do. LMFAO! I know that was the case with Cloverfield and me. Heh.
I'm a big horror fan, but to be honest even with the Riff I found myself getting bored in places. I didn't enjoy this movie that much when I saw it without the Riff, I was hoping Mike and the gang would make it worthwhile for me but I still found myself ready to nod off a few times. I'm not a huge fan of Sam Raimi's work anyway (I know, blasphemy), and to be honest I think he kind of ruined the film by making it too...Evil Deadish with the over the top effects. It started out kind of interesting and just got too campy. With the riff I'd give it a 6-7 probably.
