The House Of The Devil (http://www.houseofthedevilmovie.com/)
Has anyone seen this yet? I came across the preview on XBox Live and thought it looked great. Apparently it was shot on 16mm, so it totally has that retro, 70s horror movie look. And, even though it has a very limited theatrical release... it's available right now VOD.
Never ever heard of it until last night. And i haven't really found any reviews for it yet, but the general response seems to be pretty positive. I suppose i'll squeeze it in between a few zombie movies sometime this month... unless i hear that it's totally horrible or something.

Yeah, I've seen the preview but have heard nothing of it's quality. I think it looks pretty good, but I've been wrong before.
It looks like a cool idea, though reviews seem mixed (CHUD was not amused). I'm sure I'll check it out at some point.

Meh... this wasn't as great as i had hoped. I think that it's worth seeing, but maybe not for the price i paid.
It definitely feels like an old film from the early 80s. It has that look, and probably more important... the atmosphere. I'm not talking about the slasher films of the 80s, though. This is more of a low-budget creep fest. There's lots and lots of exposition, and a huge majority of the film is spent slowly building tension. And i think that might ultimately be the problem.
It's like a book that seems like it's working up to something great... and then kinda' fizzles out. The House Of The Devil definitely doesn't fizzle out though. There's quite a lot of horrific screaming and blood in the last few moments of the film, but it doesn't really live up to the promise of nearly an hours worth of build-up.
If you like atmospheric horror with a tiny dash of Rosemary's Baby and Texas Chainsaw... then it might be worth your time. But i'd wait until you can rent it on DVD.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL stars the sexy Jocelin Donahue as cash-strapped college student Samantha Hughes, who takes a babysitting job in a remote mansion with her good friend Megan (Greta Gerwig, BAGHEAD). She's desperate for money and the pay is good, but something feels wrong, and Samantha quickly realizes that the girls are trapped. As a lunar eclipse darkens the night sky, Samantha finds that her employers—cult favorites Tom Noonan (MANHUNTER) and Mary Woronov (ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL)—don't have a baby at all, and have something truly terrifying in store for them.
