Sometimes I really can't stand living in Middle America. I try to go and see a decent movie and during the trailers I see yet another Tyler Perry abomination that will be coming soon to theatres. The worst part about it is that Perry finds the best possible marketing people to make great trailers for him, and all of the middle aged women and old ladies sitting around me exclaim, "Oh, that looks so delightful! We'll have to go and see that when it comes out. What a sweet story!"
If I dare to roll my eyes and whisper a remark about Perry's talent to my friend, I will immediately be met with shaking heads all around me. My my, that girl is such a snob, she can't appreciate a good movie...
Ugh.
He DOES look good in his sweaters............
I swear, every promo for one of his lame shows, he is there wearing a sweater. Does he live on the south pole?
He seems like a really nice guy in real life, but I just can't stand his style of direction. This comes into play because this is my aunt's incentive to watch his movies, "But he's such a nice man and all of his movies have happy endings!" I like a nice happy ending the same as anyone else, but I prefer them in realistic settings or at least presented in an interesting and visually complex way.
Here's a weird thing. If you come to my theatre, you will never see an ad for a Tyler Perry movie. Why? Because I don't want to give the damn things any more publicity, and it won't matter anyway: We're still one of the top-selling theatres for Tyler Perry movies in the country.

It must be said, you are in Atlanta, I'd expect the folks from Morehouse and Spelman want some intellect free entertainment from time to time ;)
I don't like his movie but I find it hard to hate them because he comes off as such a nice guy in interviews. Weird.
I've never seen him interviewed, so to me he's just annoying and overexposed for what little talent he might have.

I always told myself that if I didn't make it in the film industry I would purchase my own movie theatre, that way people wouldn't be forced to watch stupid pepsi and car commercials. Sure, we might go belly up after a year, but it would be worth it for one commercial-free evening at the movies.
Believe me, I wish I weren't Part of The Problem.
Um, do you have a particular Tyler Perry film in mind? I don't know of any Tyler Perry movies.

I can honestly say I've never heard of any of those, I think they must go straight-to-DVD over here

If that's the case Scott I'm now looking forward to my trip to Australia more than ever. ;D
I think even the Friday movies went straight to DVD, I'm not sure what that says.
