The BBC has just signed a deal with Warner Brothers to make a Doctor Who movie to be released in March 2012!
It will star David Tenent and be written by RTD!
It has been given a $150 million budget.

Wow, that seems like a pretty big budget which should allow them to do whatever they want.
I never got into Dr. Who, but I am happy for the DRW fans.
I hate April 1.

This must be an april fools.......david tennet is leaving the show , so he woudn't be in the movie unless they were going to kick that douche they are going to replace him with to the curb. *silently praying* :clap:

They are using Tennent because they don't want to disrupt filming on the show.
That is the real reason he left the show,he was in talks to star in the movie.
It would have been better if they had been filming this year since there's only going to be 3 or 4 shows the whole year, plenty of time to film the movie in between. I don't think people will take kindly to a movie that doesnt even feature the current (future) doctor, because we would already know the result. The only way I would see it if there was some nookie action with Rose Tyler (billi piper) and Tennet as the doctor lol or rose tyler and the master ..now that would be worth a VIP ticket. :highfive:
The multi Doctor stories and Big Finish audios have turned out fine.
I don't see using a past Doctor as a problem.
I like the fact that they are taking 3 years to make this.
Hopefully it will turn out better then the Fox TV movie.

I am just not sure about this it's like how they make stories for books that no one reads, radio series and all this lark that are ment to be part of the journey or something. If you weren't watching the series and buying the books you wouldn't probally get the whole adventure. It will be like their coming along and saying OHYA and this happened when you weren't looking..WTF would that be about. It reminds me of murder she wrote ( odd reference I know) you could never figure out who done it because we haven't seen the whole story so the whole thing is unfair from the off. Or atleast I couldn't see through that show, moving on. :-\ Im sure the movie will be good and show lots of the same monsters we have seen over and over,..... we built all these Daleks and darn it were gonna use them.... comes to mind, and I will probally go see it .....im just a doomed Dr. Who fan lol can't win if I wanted to. ::)
The Cowboy Bebop movie took place in between two episodes and it does fine.
I don't care as long as we get a new story and Tenent is great,who knows maybe this could make him a star.
Most movies take three years to make and they have only just started work on it.
Most likely will take a year to write it,a year to film,and a year in post.
I can't wait.
I hope they can find something in it for old tom baker, i love his voice! I still think DT is crazy for giving up on doing more dr who series though , some actors don't know when they got it good. ::)
Well I don't know he did three years of the show and this gives him a chance to do other projects while the film is in preproduction.
I don't understand why these actors don't seem to take on that once you sign on that dotted line becoming the next doctor you are effectively a marked man, you will always be the doctor, no matter what else your in or do, everyone will only ever see you as the DOCTOR. I think most people could give two tosses what character he is playing, all they will be thinking is doctor. Thats the only reason people went to see him in Hamlet .. which the reviews were not that hot. They wanted a chance to see the doctor in person. I know as a woman I have looked at him doing other things and haven't heard a word he was saying, I was just looking at him but I am sure all women probally do this, and maybe some men too. :P I would think being the doctor would be like the holy grail for an actor being that you have a very good shot at job security if you do it well, the audiance base is blanket covered young to old, the nation loves you and so do others around the world. I think being the doctor should be any actors dream but, greed is the word. And I recall DT saying he would stay as long as they would have him, now he's saying I have to leave or they would not be able to get rid of me.... pplleeaasee stop the BS DT. ::)

Well it may be true If he stayed for seven years he would be the only Doctor most people knew and then the show mite become The XFiles seasons 8 and 9.
The show may be better off in the long run.
Still it may be that he just got board,can't say i see a problem with someone trying something new if they are board with their job.
Also we are talking big Hollywood bucks here.

See I always saw Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge, but I think that's just me.
