Title: Anybody remember the show??
Post by: RVR II on October 18, 2008, 08:24:05 AM
I do.. I watched it constently along with other 70's & 80's shows like The Six Million Dollar Man, Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers, to the original Transformers 8)

I didn't realize (or I probably just forgot) that Bill Bixby had passed away almost 15 years ago of Prostate cancer  :'(

After doing a Google search and catching up on his history, along with watching a couple of old, grainy clips of him, I came across an Entertainment Tonight clip recorded during his last days, and I have to admit I was touched by who he was as a person and how he battled cancer till his very last day by working as a producer of another old show I remember, 'Blossom'..

I used to watch this show, Automan, Greatest American Hero, The Muppet Show and others sitting next to my Dad when I was a little kid in a really big arm chair we used to have. Good memories.

P.S. Apologies to Jim Henson et al for including The Muppet Show in the same sentence as the rest of those crappy shows.

Don't get me started on 80s television.  To this day my dad still calls me "Jake" because I loved "Tales of the Gold Monkey" so much.  I'd still argue that it got a bum rap, especially in light of the fact that f**king "Small Wonder" lasted several seasons.  I mean, WTF?  A little girl speaking in monotone versus a super-smart one-eyed dog, I'd put my money on the dog any day of the week.

But the Incredible Hulk was nothing short of what its name implies.  I mostly just remember that my little sister used to call him "The Incredible Honk."  Didn't even recall that Bill had passed away, but then I tend to be oblivious that way.

Personally i really like old 80's TV shows. Sure they were corny and cheesy. But one thing most of them never were was boring. Unlike so many t.v. shows today. As for Bill Bixby, i Known for some time that he died from cancer. He directed alot of episodes of Blossom. Even tho i was never a big fan of that show.  Also Jack Colvin who played Jack Mcgee also past away in 2005. yeah i know it sucks.

I still like the Incredible Hulk! In fact I didn't buy the last two seasons because they announced that they were going to do a whole series set. That comes out Tuesday!

I remember my sister being asked once by my mother what she wanted to be when she grew up, and I swear to God she said, "The Incredible Hulk".

Yes, I watched TIH weekly. Along with The Six Million Dollar Man, The Night Stalker, and Happy Days to name a few.  :)

Those shows may not have seemed boring back then, but holy hell are they suicide helpers now. Good way to torture somebody.

One of my earliest memories if of watching the Hulk. I think it's probably BS, and I'm just remembering a tape or a photograph of watching the Hulk, but brains are stupid, so what's the difference.

I watched a bunch of episodes on Netflix, but only the good ones. I really don't think I'm going to watch the rest since the plots are ridiculous and the two Hulk cameos per episode are always the same. Luckily I didn't see this boxing one, so if the stream is ever fixed and works, I'll finish it.

That I used to watch Street Hawk should be grounds for execution. Really, I don't deserve to live. MISFITS OF SCIENCE is part of my trivial knowledge. This should never happen.

Well if that true, I must have been torturing myself for years. I watch alot of old shows from the 80's not to mention 50's 60's, 70's, mid 90's and while i can stand them. I just cant stand tv today. I think my main problem is that there just is not any room for humor anymore. Its like all the writers for tv today are zombies. At least back then you had shows that could be super serious at one moment and funny the next. Like Mash, Magnum P.i.,  Chips., and tons of others. And while alot if not all of them were cheesy in one way or another. I rather watch that then most tv shows today. Most just bore me and if i forced to watch them. I probably go insane or be super depressed. Not that there not some shows on today i do like Monk, Psych & Mythbusters. But theres no much beyond that. Plus i dont have any problem the guys making fun of old shows. Because theres plenty to poke fun at. Especially with shows like Knight Rider and the Greatest American Hero. But again id rather watch the old Knight Riders show with all its cheesiness  then watch the boring 2008 remake. But thats just me.

You boys are clearly not watching Dexter.
