QuoteOur 4th episode. "LEGACY OF BLOOD", will be available OCTOBER 9th. Just in time for three weeks before Halloween, it's a creepy tale of a creepy family (Menendez family creepy, not the Addams Family creepy/kooky blend) bent on surviving a week in a mansion to earn their evil father's fortune. As you might guess, murder is a prominent plot driver here. None of this should bother you too much since we tend to talk a lot throughout the film...hope you don't mind.
Check out the TRAILER (http://emailclub.cinematictitanic.com/link.php?M=19282&N=43&L=73&F=H).
Very cool.
I just modified your title slightly and I will sticky this.
I like the look of this one.
"Body by Charles Atlas; head by Mel Brooks"
And check out the Joe Don Bakeresque close-up at 0:56. "The last thing a chili-dog sees."
Yeah, this one has potential!
Lookin forward to this one as well..
Despite the riffing humor that seems to be missing some more flare in the previous 3 :-\
I don't know about this. Brain of Blood was certainly too dark and icky to start the series on. I just think it's too early on in the series to be tackling another really gruesome (even cheesy gorey) one. They're still establishing a name for themselves right now and I think that some variety would be the best thing for them.
We really haven't had any goofy movies yet. Doomsday Machine was fun, but it was pretty serious and slow-moving overall. Same story for The Wasp Woman. I think they should take on a lighter release, like an old kaiju movie or one of the more harmless kung-fu films circulating out there.
Hehe. Dr. Superpenis.
So midnight Central Standard Time for the download then?

Oh, well in that case, carry on good sir.
I think this is my favorite CT yet.
That may be the stupidest ending to a movie I've seen in a very long time. Let's explore murder and incest, but ho-ho! Here's a wacky ending for ya!
Well, they were probably on a collision course with wackiness....
Ordered my DVD this morning. Looking forward to it.
Another strong riffing session from CT! while it did not score as well with me as Wasp Woman (that so far is my favorite CT release), it was a very fun movie with some great lines by everyone in CT.
I'm a sucker for riffing so they keep releasing them and i'll keep buying them!
Just received my DVD just now..
Looks like it'll be a 'Triple Feature' night with the 'Legacy of Blood' , RiffTrax's 'Iron Man' and RiffRaff Theater's riff release of TRON :highfive:

I'm thinking of going 'Retro 80's' with Tron First, Then Iron Man, then Legacy of Blood..
But, My 'DVD to .mp3' conversion process through Pinnacle, takes an average of 3 hours (+/- a 1/2 hour or so), so I just may be watching Legacy of Blood 1st while TRON is converting :-\
Well, Just read from Chris Hanel that TRON apparently won't be released today after all :'( :'(
M'kay...

I just got the movie in the mail today is seems to be playing fine on my DVD player.
Do you have an older DVD player you can try it on? Sometimes the older players are more forgiving on warps or dirt on the DVD.
But hell, if that don't work, return it.

The DVD definitly has some kind of defect.. I put a couple other DVD's in the player to make sure and they played fine :-\
I contacted CT about it and Katy Beaulieu told me to send it back for a replacement, so I'll do that in the morning :(
Argh. Well, on mine the "Play Movie" button just causes the "walking in" sequence to restart. Thankfully, I can start the movie with the chapters. Still annoying though.
Mine was fine...... must have been a few bad DVDs on the pressing line.
This was their best effort yet...... really funny.
And the movie..... what the hell?!?
Yeah, really. It was like an incestuous test pattern.
That one chick is hot though.

I was at least able to make a temporary playable copy with Shrink & Nero, so I was able to enjoy this.. ;D
That one guy Johnny that kept YELLING throughout a good bit of the movie, looked A Lot like Mitchell :o
I am not sure who the pant suit guy reminded me more of........ Meatloaf, a shrunken Chad Everette, a poor man's Mitchell.....
And the ending.....
Having a minor character stare at the camera, wink like Sarah Palin and have circus music playing is NOT how to end your little horror movie
Well, DVD Talk just posted their review of "Legacy of Blood".. and it's not by Stuart Galbraith.
This guy liked it, BTW.
And what a horrible film. Ack.
QuoteHaving a minor character stare at the camera, wink like Sarah Palin and have circus music playing is NOT how to end your little horror movie
That should be in the liner notes, although it does sound pretty horrifying.
Watched it tonight. I'll have to put it at my second favorite, I laughed more at Doomsday.
Best freeze frame skits yet, really liked the little death game.
I remember parts of this movie, saw it on TV as a kid, mostly I remember the stupid ending....
For everyone who got it, how long did your shipping take? I ordered mine last Friday night (kinda late) as well as the latest ICWXP from RiffTrax. I got the ICWXP disc on Tuesday and still nothing from CT.

I saw mine a couple of days ago. I'll echo a couple of other people here and say that I think this is probably their best effort so far. It had some really great moments, and I laughed pretty hard when the warning at the start of the episode paid off in the first "skit". I personally felt that the second skit would've been funnier if Josh had died in some way, but I liked the episode a great deal.
Alright! Finally! :highfive:
I got my replacement DVD, and it works just fine ;D
We watched ours last night, and loved it. Probably my favourite CinTit so far!
My god, what an awful, awful movie.
Also, it has my favourite "host segment" they've done to date. (Maybe the only one I've actually enjoyed?)

I thought both segments were the best they've done so far.
Also, anyone start to think there's a slightly more sinister plot going on as to them being "held" to do these commentaries? What happend in the opening then what happened in the first segment (don't want to spoil it for people).... Maybe someday they will have the budget to build some sets and do real segments instead of the little bits in silhouette.
I like the silhouettes prior to the movie, they're stylish and in keeping with the entire thing.
I fell asleep before it finished late one night... I awoke later to the sounds of neverending footsteps (from the menu), which made for some creepy dream sequences before I was totally awake!

I also liked the host segments.(...would have been neat to see Josh have a choice between the 'electric lamp', 'suit of armour' or a Coleman Francis DVD box set.........and Josh choose the quick way out(death)...but the gang stops him before he can touch the lamp. :D Coleman Francis or death..easy choice.)
I don't mind the silhouette segments...they could/should keep them....but add a non-silhouette opening and ending. (and come up with a 'stinger' closing)

No joke! Yes, I imagine a bunch of us have been there. Last time I dreamed that I had arrived early for a party at Mary Jo Pehl's clifftop house. Not a nightmare by any means, but weird.

Personally, I hope they keep everything in silhouette. I really like the style of it. (And couldn't care less about the stingers)
Yeah, I totally agree about keeping the entirety in silhouette.
It's a signature look, from the episodes to the website. And it lends to a crisp, accessible presentation.
And now, to add a criticism: In listening to some old MST recently (as well as a couple of Rifftrax), it occurred to me how much the camaradery of Mike/Joel and the Bots comes through like gangbusters in the commentary. The listener hears despairing exhales of breath after a bad pun, or a Crow giggle after something Mike said -- little reactions that provide more of a sense of folks watching something together. That's something CT might work a bit on, because presently -- as some have mentioned in these threads -- there's more of a scripted feeling, a group of indivduals at work, each waiting for their line. The sense of togetherness may be a more difficult feeling to attain with 5 people spaced further apart, but it's worth focusing on, I think.

Remember they were under time constraints for 2, 3, and 4, because after the writers strike they couldn't find a studio to shoot in, when they did they only had a few days to get all 3 movies in. I'm hoping the next few they have more time and can loosen up a bit (or a lot) in that area.
Went and reviewed it on me blog site n that:
http://bigredsfunbus.blogspot.com/2008/10/ct-legacy-of-blood.html
Loved it! but my word that's an awful, yet strangely entertaining, film!
Oh. Man. What a movie. I'm actually a big fan of the "Family who hates each other has to stay in the same mansion while they mysteriously get killed off by a mysterious figure" cliche. Those are the best kind of old horror films... but the ending! In one 2 second gag, they completely threw any sense of suspense, horror, or legitimacy that the movie might have had (And there wasn't much) out the window. The riffing was great and the whole affair evoked more belly laughs than any Cinematic Titanic to date.
I think ALL movies should end with circus music playing.
Weird little film make by folks with obvious family issues.
Darned funny riff.
this movie definitely left a stain.
i can't stand 70's movie freeze frames at the end. yuck. :grr:
So far my favorite CT at the moment. Solid throughout. Hope they keep doing the seedy stuff.
Was it me....or did they start off with a mansion that needed to be mowed. And then later they show the house and there's no vegetation growing up the wall?
And no one mentions that it's gone?
Other than that I loved it. Forgot how much I missed Trace and his talent for voices all this time. Love you, Trace :-*
I enjoyed the riff on the scene where the guy takes the covered human head out of the fridge only to find out it's the ham with pineapple rings and Mary Jo says, "I think I'd rather have the head."

Did you enjoy the TV series "
Police Squad"? ;D
Holy cow, this movie was BAD! One feels like taking a long shower afterward, it's that horrible. Of course this makes for a great CT outting. ;D
I'm starting to really like these CT releases. I really like the MST3K feel you get while watching these. I have a feeling these will all stand the test time and be as funny in 10 or more years as they are now. Ok, time to brave Episode 6, Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks. Keep it up, CT!!
Late to the party but I got this one and Frankenstein this week.
I really thought Wasp woman was a step up from the earlier ones, and Legacy of Blood is a step up from that. All the complaints I had about the earlier stuff being stiff and distant were completely absent from this one, and if this is representative of the future then I'd say they've definitely found their groove.
Yakking with a buddy here at work today I realized one of my problems with the initial CT stuff. In my head while I was watching Doomsday or Oozing Skull and, because I'd just watched an MST DVD the previous weekend I'm thinking "C'mon guys, you just did this last week! Why so stiff?" But of course, they didn't do it "just last week". More like "just last decade". Nothing others haven't brought up before but it just percolated into my slow brain today.
I'm surprised they're not widescreen though.

There was so much to riff on in that movie and so little time they were going to miss something.
