worst movies ever
« on: November 24, 2006, 05:14:07 PM »
Hello all new here, browsing the internet and found two lists of the top....well um bottom 100 movies ever wondering if there are any anyone agrees or disagrees with. also for the mst3k faithful, you will notice "I accuse my Parents" , "Hell Cats" , "santa claus conquers the martians" and "Eegah"  among others in the IMDB list.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom
http://www.thestinkers.com/100stinkers.html

i personally think the final sacrifice should have been on the list, although in my top 5 mst3k's
"Watch out for Snakes!"
"Rowsdower....is that a stupid name?"

Hello, stalker.

Good Lord! Zoom is in the bottom 100? That's coming out over here soon.  I'll make one of my assistants watch it... *evil laugh*

What, they ranked Twin Peaks (Lost Highway--Lynch's best film--was ranked as one of the worst of 1997. Eat me.) and Natural Born Killers next to Plan 9 from Outer Space and Battlefield Earth? Give me a break.

I refuse to give The Bad Cinema Society any credit whatsoever. Throughout the website, there are plenty of great films that are trashed among the true stinkers. They shame their own name by doing so.

If you really want a painful movie to riff, try Romeo and Juliet (1996) with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

Ouch. Shakespeare not only rolled over in his grave over that one, he twisted into a tailspin.

Words alone cannot express the sheer physical pain I endured in watching a few minutes of that film. I honestly could not continue. The pain was too great.  :-[

Then of course there was Moulin Rouge by the same director.  I only watched about a half hour and it hurt me to no end.  The broadway/techno/pop rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit nearly caused me to vomit.  Only theater queers could possibly like that pretentious crap.  Sad thing is, I was a technician for my high school theater, so I had to interact with people like that on a daily basis.  You have NO idea how many times I had to listen to that chewing gum/shotgun bit from Chicago.  It was like a mantra to these f***ing people.

These worse movies ever lists should be sued for false advertising.  Where's Envy?  Reign of Fire?  Ghost Dad, for crying out loud?!

There should be a caveat to these lists etc... that the movie was actually trying to be good.

I mean, the Corman stuff is awful and so is Uwe Bolls stuff, but they are not 'trying' to be good. They are just trying to come in with enough moving footage to edit into a motion picture or steal money from the German authorities. Like when these lists have Attack of the Killer Tomatos on it...it's just not fair. Not a level playing field. For what is was trying to do Attack of the Killer Tomatos is great! But I would like to point out that budget is not involved. Thats why I consider Starship Troopers to be immune to attacks that it was a bad movie. It was made tongue in cheek and as a parody, and such, suceeded.

Something that was trying to be good and was terrible (Battlefield Earth for example?) should be the vein we are going for. Wild Wild West also leaps to mind.

The Stinkers list is a terribly confused list that fails to take the above into consideration. It is also apparent that they do not get the horror genre at all (many 'proper film critics' don't.) Take for instance the inclusion of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I will defend this movie's greatness to the grave. It is a genuine classic in the horror genre and in filmdom in general. You may notice they just take two entire franchises out in one listing pretty much with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. While they have uneven sequels to be sure, the originals in either series are reguarded as classics and have spawned multiple sequels on their financial merits. It is wrong to exclude an entire movie franchise as 'worst' just because you don't like it. I mean they make room to call out only the odd numbered Star Trek movies , not just slam the whole run. The also dismiss the Polie Academy series this way as well.
The Twin Peaks movie (as noted above) should be nowhere near a list of bad movies. Misunderstoon movies maybe, but not bad.

Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.
